Hi guys,

I really love the knowledge and all the great people here, this fourm is awsome! I see a lot of people seem to be doing pretty well with their WSO releases.. I have have some ideas for some ORIGINAL products and would like to get them out there(cheaply of course) but was wondering, since I'm fairly new to the forum(but not IM) do you think there would be a problem getting my WSO sold? I could send out review copies and get some reviews for the sales page, as I'm sure that would help, but how much does my "length of stay" as it were, help or hurt my chances?

Thanks!!

    Hi Bob,

    Welcome to the Warrior Forum.

I think that I'm actually the perfect person to answer your question, because I joined the Warrior Forum in April of 2012 and I launched a WSO in May of 2012, after just being on the Warrior Forum for about a month. Now, almost 18 months later, my WSO is still going strong and I just released a second product (not a WSO) this past week. If you offer a solid WSO that provides real value and really helps people, your tenure here should be irrelevant. Granted, there will always be people who are skeptical, but you're always going to have some people who are always skeptical about something.

As far as review copies go, I highly advise against doing that. I've never given out review copies because, in my opinion, that is basically like bribeing people to say nice things about your course. Granted, people don't have to say nice things about your course, but most of them will if you give them a free copy of your course. If they're honest and ethical folks, they're going to disclose on your WSO thread that you gave them a review copy. The end result: People see that you're giving out free copies of your course to try and drum up positive reviews. In my opinion, that is a total credibility destroyer. If your product is good, you'll get good reviews from people who are genuinely happy with their purchase. I'd take one genuine review over 100 "freebie" reviews any day. The idea of giving out free review copies is just a bad idea in my opinion.

Another thing that I think is a really bad idea is offering OTO's and upsells. Many people will strongly disagree with me on this, because of the conventional argument that OTO's and upsells increase your overall average profit per customer. I don't see it that way at all. Yes, it's true that some people are going to buy your main product and then they'll buy your OTO too. So, on the surface, it might look like you're making more per customer. What you're not seeing in those numbers, though, are all of the people that decided against buying your course because you offer a OTO or upsell. Personally, I'm very against the idea of OTO's and upsells, from an ethical standpoint, because I think you should give people a complete purchase in one package.

Also, keep in mind that the people who may purchase your OTO and upsell are likely going to be left with a bad taste in their mouths after having to hit more buy buttons after their initial purchase. There's no way to track this "left with a bad feeling" stat on paper, but I think it's a safe bet to say that when you hit people with OTO's and upsells, they are going to be much more resistant to buying from you again in the future. These are stats that can't be measured. I just think about the way I'd like to be treated when making a purchase and I try to structure my offers from the perspective of the customer. So, in that respect, I'm very anti-OTO and anti-upsell, because I believe that they can actually hurt your profits, as opposed to what the numbers deceptively suggest.

OK, those are my thoughts on it. I'm sure some people will disagree with what I've said here. These are just two things that have worked for me over the past 18 months. I mentioned these two things because it's the opposite advice of what a lot of so-called WSO experts preach.

Good luck and don't let your new status here stop you. If your products are good, no logical person is going to care how long you've been here. The people who do take issue with things like that just need to remember that people can still have a lot of business experience, even if they haven't spent the last 10 years of their lives making posts on the Warrior Forum. After a little thought, some might even view that as a a good thing.

Totally agree! The first thing I look for is an OTO. If there is .... it puts me off.

Thats great news! Thanks so much for writing back to me! Your probably right about the OTO thing, I find them annoying as well... I'll just focus on putting the best product out I possibly can and take it from there... Thanks for the advice!!

    Yes.

I would avoid OTO and give the user the complete package upfront.

You'll be giving them what they want and they'll notice in the long-run.

I agree with Terry (I bought her WSO!). I've seen WSOs and bought from people who have very few posts and their product was better than a lot of those who've been posting a lot more. If the offer sounds professional and not hyped up, I see few posts as a positive for that WSO seller because perhaps they are busy making money from the techniques or method they put together in their WSO.

Then there are those "professional" WSO sellers. They crank them out one by one. Are they experts on everything or are they just milking the forum?

I don't like otos myself, but in a different context like if you giveaway a free something, then you hit the person with an oto after he or she gets the freebie -- that might be okay or at least that's how I would use otos.

Lousy One-Time-Offers obviously suck, especially the ones where you pretty much have to buy the OTO to really get value out of the product. By the way, IF you ever experience one of those, report the seller to the mods by using the "Report Post" icon (it's underneath every member's name).

And only give the most relevant facts, if you simply report a WSO seller by writing "this is a scam" or "this person is ripping people off", you're making it tougher for the Moderator(s).

Well-structured OTOs that provide real value work extremely well, from both the buyer's perspective as well as the seller.

I'm not a big fan of OTOs myself, but the numbers don't lie. When used correctly they work like gang busters.

I am a long time "lurker" of the WF and was wondering this same thing. Thanks to the OP for asking.

Terry I really appreciate your reply. That was very informative!

I have purchased a lot of WSO offers and most have been very disappointing. I feel that if you provide something of value it will stand out and allow you to have success even if you don't have a long standing reputation on the WF.
