What is direct Marketing? Does it work?

You are asking a very general question here...
Direct marketing is a wide domain and it could work, but it has its advantages and disadvantages. You give your offers to a very well targeted public, through emails or letters. Your message must be personalized. The benefit would be that you are speaking directly to those who really are interested in weight loss and if your offer is really good, they might actually buy it. So it might work, yes.

Direct marketing is like mail order or it was before the Internet became widespread in people's homes and offices? It still works today but the sector you are seeking to enter is highly competitive so to break into that market you need to offer great service and products that are better, cheaper, more effective and work faster than what is already widely available both online and on your high street health shops?

Also a lot of people are very suspicious about buying pills or supliments online due to the many fake and even dangerous products being sold by criminals? So we don't think what you intend starting with will work? Why direct marketing instead of online digital products you could easily create yourself?:confused:

Why not write about people who have lost weight and what they used and how long it took them to reach their desired weight? Also how they have been able to keep their weight at their optimal level?

If you have friends or even if you yourself have had such experiences then that would be the way to start either with an ebook or a blog where you get targeted visitors using long tailed keywords with lots of monthly searches but not excessive competition? Also social media and other methods.

It does take time to do this but time well spent if you want to start your business on the right foundations and make it profitable eventually? If you write an ebook you can give it away for free to start building a list and use that ebook to create an audio or even a video course with even more detailed information and tips which could eventually become the basis for a webinar or a seminar as your top end product, all of which you charge ever higher prices for once you have an audience of eager buyers?

If you want to go down the direct marketing route do your research and decide upon your targeted audience and specific niche before getting started?

Targeted, well-segmented and scheduled direct marketing such as email work extremely well. You can get 5-10 % sales conversion easily if you are authentic and provide real value to whom you market to.

Direct marketing requires a real strategy as everything else.

It is definitely worth it if you are willing to invest the time and the money to do it properly, otherwise like anything else if you're just going to dabble in it to see what it's like don't waste your time because you will fail and blame blame direct marketing.
