Does Direct Linking of Clickbank links on Youtube Affiliate Work?

I used to think that direct linking for affiliate products on youtube videos was much better than taking your customers to a squeeze page or a pre sell page. My recent experiences has just proved to me that the opposite is true at least in my case.

In this post I will share my experience about sharing a health product on clickbank. Initially created a pre sell page whose link I put in the description of one of my youtube videos. I discovered later that I made a sale out of every 100 clicks to my pre sell page. The pre sell page was made up of materials I obtained from the vendor's website.

After a few months I decided that I would put a direct link to the vendors sales page in the hope that I would make more money. Alas the opposite turned out to be true. Sales almost dried up inspite of the increase in traffic to the sales page.

I hope you my friends can share your own experiences on the best way to maximise your affiliate income using youtube videos.

Yes, in my experience I setup a test video review of a product (was a very good review / legit) and direct linked using my Amazon Affiliate id, and made sales. Granted I didn't get rich but its far less steps than going to your squeeze page. There is zero point to take them to a squeeze pge if you already sell them on the idea/product from within youtube. Just use a tinyurl service to hide the obvious affiliate link and to make more aesthetically pleasing.

It is generally a good idea to cloak your links with a url shortner or a redirect from a domain you own so you won't get reported so easily.

      This is interesting...

What I'd like to know is this:

Did you use an uncloaked affiliate link when you used direct-linking?

It would make sense that it wouldn't convert as well.

Why not test using a cloaked link instead and see how it compares to the squeeze page.

I'm currently experimenting with something slightly related...

I've been sending people from Twitter to a squeeze page for a free pre-sell report. I hardly got any takers.

Since this isn't a niche I particularly want to build a list in, I tried sending them to the download page directly in hopes that more of them would check out the report (and then take action...).

The experiment is still in progress so I don't have any real results yet.

Then again, Twitter hasn't been getting overwhelming results to begin with. I should be doing that same experiment on YouTube...

Try adding a link in the video with YouTube annotated links. You can only add links to your website (or other Google properties). Don't redirect because you put your video and channel at risk.

If using a landing page, you get more clicks with a link directly in the video.
