Default How I Got On The 1st Page Of Google In 40 Minutes For An Ultra Competitive Keyword

Fellow Warriors, I just wanted to share a little test with you, that
I'm sure you'll find quite exciting.

Over the last few weeks many internet marketers have been
showing videos as to how you can get listed on google
very highly for keywords and keyword phrases on either
the third page, second page and even the first page of google.

Well as I watched a lot of the videos I started to see a trend
that most of the keywords and keyword phrases were
for terms that hardly any search was going on for.

I mean its all fine and dandy to get listed on the first page
of google for a keyword or keyword phrase, but if no one
is actively searching for that particular keyword or phrase
its just wasted energy

Something else I noticed as well, was most of the marketers
were talking about the competitive pages for the keywords
and phrases on google or the results that are at the top
right hand page of google.

Some of the page results where in the millions or a few
hundred thousands, which is fine, but what a few marketers don't
understand are those pages might have been indexed years
ago and those pages have been around forever, or some
have been there for months, but that was a time when
people were actively and heavily searching for those terms.

Now you and I both know there are tools out there that
can actually show you how much search activity is going
on for keywords and phrases, and I might shutter to think
that if they actually used the tools to find out how much
search is actually going on with their keywords they would
be highly disappointed.

Believe me I know, I got listed on the first page in first
position for a keyword term that had over 40,000,000
page results or competitive pages whatever you want
to call them and got zero traffic.

So I just created a short video to help those interested
that you can actually get listed very highly for heavily
searched and highly competitive keyword terms.

In the video I go through a very competitive keyword
phrase and how it got me listed in google on the first
page in the number #1 spot in under 45 minutes
and how I'm planning on monetizing it as well.

Love to get your feedback good or bad, as for me
that's what marketing is all about, always testing
to see where the money can come in from.

You can find the video here.
http://niche-profit-marketing.com/callofdutyd4.wmv

and the competitive keyword phrase is without the quotes
I might add...

Call of Duty 4 Mod Warfare for Xbox 360 PS3

You do have to turn up the volume on this one, in
my rush to make the video I forgot to turn up the
volume ;-)

Hi Khuram, I explain alittle of this in the video, the keyword I got listed for with 40,000,000 results it was for a phrase that if I was lucky I maybe saw 35 visitors a day over the course of the 3 days I was listed, so even though it was 35 visitors, you would think that my server would have blown up from the amount of traffic with the competitive page results, sadly that wasn't the case.

What was the competition from google with quotes? Like "my keyword phrase"

Just like you found out...just because 40mil pages are listed doesn't mean anything for traffic. If people aren't searching that phrase it is all in vain.

I've over the years had tons of phrases that showed up in top 10 searches but weren't good for anything when it came to traffic heh.

Often it was a phrase I would think of that I thought people would be searching...type it in...see a site I had...do some keyword analysis on it and find out it was **** LOL.

Plus with quotes around it I doubt it would be anywhere near 40million.

I mean as popular as sex is for a search term..something like "sex toys" only has 25mil competing pages...lol

that is exactly right always try to see the exact comptition or in your keyword research try to research with Quotes that will narrow down to the number of searches that are being done for that exact keyword or keyword phrase. gives you some idea about real compitition.

Hi Donald, its late but before I go to bed I'll answer your question

the keyword phrase I got listed for on the first page in the number 1 spot briefly was
without the quotes...

Water Resources

then it slipped down to the 3rd spot and 5th spot before slipping off.

at the time it had over 40,000,000 results.

As I look at it now before I go to bed currently if you type that phrase into google there are roughly 48,000,000 results

I barely got any traffic from the phrase, like I said earlier if its not activily and heavily being searched you'll have a hard time monetizing it, so who cares if your on the first page of google ;-)

nite all, keep the comments coming, I'm not around that much but when I'm around I do try to provide some content and value for the membership. So if I don't get back to answer your replies, I'm not ignoring you, I'm just not here ;-)

The video is very quiet. I had my volume turned all the way up and I could still barely hear it.

The video content is wonderful though. I could see paying for this.

Hey Jester, thanks for the comment, when I'm in here I do try and provide some good value and good content ;-)

Sorry about the volume I think my microphone might be fried so off to get another one. The next video case study I produce will be better for everyone.

It never dawned on me to create a video series on getting ranked for competitive keyword phrases and getting good traffic back to your site, blog, or affiliate program, and sell it as an info product. I've been teaching my list, and clients to get ranked way back in late 2006 doing this stuff.

I just do it to help out those that are struggling and its pretty cool to show fellow warriors that care some results.

I'm not sure how long you were on the first page of Google for, but the term you ranked for
is only searched for roughly 60 times a day according to keyword tracker.

By looking on the competing sites on the first page, it looks like it should have been
a tough nut to crack none the less.

Thanks for the video as I'm always looking to learn new SEO.

I am just wondering how this keyword is any different from the
type of keywords you spoke about in other videos that do not
have much true competition.

The keyword you chose has:

- Only 10 competing sites (in quotes) that have that exact phrase

- Only 3 competing sites with the allintitle stats.

Maybe I missed something.

Actually one of the interesting things is that traffic is not all that matters

We all want to rank top 10 but actually what we really want to rank is good for traffic. I have done that on a few pages and one page gets 250 average pageviews a day and brings in almost nothing (maybe a little adsense) and then another page has 100 or so pageviews a day and that page by itself brings me in almost all of my income.

The difference is one page is a information page that is great to look at but has no call to action, while the other is a focused sales type product review page.

So remember the keyword that drives the buyer traffic is worth so much more than any other page.

Hi Clint, to answer your question, most of the keyword tools out there
are ancient dinosours so I dont' put much stock in them.

They do provide value on certain levels, but if you were to go with
the exact data they provide, you would not make the money you
want.

Example

Lets take the keyword "can't sleep" or "I can't sleep" if you were
to use those keywords and plug them into keyword tools, you
would be shocked by some of the results when it comes to
search volume, yet pop that term into search engines and
look at the results.

I used the tool you were talking about
Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool
and plugged in "can't sleep" "cant sleep" "I can't sleep"

I also used word tracker and a couple of other tools
Free SEO Tools - SEOToolSet

so Both paid and free tools were used

Its universal that keyword is a pretty competitive keyword
as millions can't sleep due to some reason or another
and some advertisers are paying a pretty penny for that keyword.

Plug the term "can't sleep" "I can't sleep" "can t sleep"
"cant sleep" into the google keyword tool or wordtracker
or seobook and you'll get some ridiculous results.

There are a variety of tools and techinques to be used when looking
into a market to tap into when you want to sell a product or service
or promote as an affiliate, and using keyword tools is just the basic
starting foundation.

One of the steps to looking into a market is to see whats selling,
how long has it been selling. and how is it being sold.

What keyword and keyword phrases are people currently using describing a
a product or service, I like to get into the market by going to the high
traffic blogs, forums, and websites to do my research for that particular
product or service, as well as whats selling on the product catolog sites.

And some other sneaky ninja Frank Kern style stuff ;-)

You'll get tremendous valuable data as to how to target your keywords
and phrases for that particular market when you go past the basic
keyword stuff.

Hope that helps you

To your continued online success

Peter

This is purely an exercise in learning that you need to know the activity for a keyword before jumping in. A large number of pages does not mean a large amount of traffic.

I'm also stumped as to how going for a long tailed keyword phrase is any different to the videos you watched. Very VERY standard stuff.

Audio dropped to an un-listenable level.

Also, I could not find any keyword research tool that showed any searches for that phrase.

Unfortunately most of the video I could not hear....but it did seem like a good example of long tail keywords. I have found, as has been mentioned, that merely looking at the number of Page Results does not predict actual traffic.

if the phrase in the video was really that competitve, would there be at least a few Google Adwords ads? I would say yes..
(however you may have stumbled on a profitable untapped keyword...)

if this was a profitable keyword phrase - I would've thrown a bit of adwords traffic at it first before crafting an SEO campaign. that's just me. A few bucks of testing and research is definitely worth the time...

Peter -

For some reason, my PC doesn't play videos in the .wmv format. (It's a 5-yr old HP/Compaq Pressario, running Windows XP. I'm using FireFox as my browser.) Any suggestions, as I'd really like to see it.

Thanks,

Sure, it realy doesn't matter how high you rank for a word with little traffic. That shows the importance of kw research and what terms people are actually using when searching.

You also don't need to rank on the first page of a huge kw to make money. If you have several kw with actual traffic, but less traffic than a huge word has, it can be easier to rank and easier to make money.

That`s a great achievement, the sound of the video was pretty poor, but I got idea. Now the thing is, how many searches on your keywords are done everyday? The number of result does not matter at all.

Don't want to be a downer but...

Results 1 - 10 of about 138,000 for Call of Duty 4 Mod Warfare for Xbox 360 PS3. (0.39 seconds)

call of duty 4 mod warfare for xbox 360 ps3 - Not enough data

I beg to differ I logged into my hubpage account today to see the call of duty 4 hubpage I created just out of curiosity as I've moved on since building it and its had 1144 unique views most of that traffic came from google.com: hubpages.com: digg.com: google.co.uk: and my affiliate earnings reflect some good numbers as well for really doing nothing.

Oddly enough when I logged in, I got the message that its now over promotional and in danger of being flagged. When the last time I logged in was weeks ago and it was fine.

Too funny
