Market book/royalties for translation

This is not only about marketing, but I'll post it anyway.

Most of the time I work with web marketing, webdesign etc, but I also work as a translator.

I've just contacted an 80 year old man that have written a book about training - scientists have done studies on him and he's got the lung capacity of a 21-year-old, he's stronger, in better shape, and looks like he's 45-50 years old.

Now, I'm pretty familiar with the health niche and I believe this book will sell if marketed correctly. He sounds very interested in working with me, but the problem is that I have no idea how much I should charge - I do the translation, the offline marketing, online marketing with Facebook, Amazon etc etc. All he have done is write the book in my language, and it's only 40 pages. Probably a lot of work to be done there..

Anyway, any idea what I should charge for the job? I was thinking a percentage of all sales, but I don't know how big a percentage.

Since you'll be doing all the work, charge 35%. Get it all documented and own the domain name so he can't stiff. I believe in respecting elders and everything (I am Asian) but their age doesn't give them a license to put one over you. Why 35%? He *IS* the content. That must be respected. And besides, if this book gets traction, 35% translates (no pun intended) to quite a nice chunk of change, feel me?

    35% sounds about right.

Anyone else? Thoughts are always welcome.
