    A domain should be as short as possible in most cases but if you can get a nice exact match domain for a decent keyword, that's good too.

    try your name first. if you someone has taken then add thegreatyournamedotcom It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. short is better like 5to8 characters that can be easily be written and spelled out. if you got your own name then it is also much easy to tell people go here and check me out. namecheapdotcom is a good place to register domain names.
