Getting Traffic Other Than SEO

I used to know how to rank sites in Google but with all the changes it is just moving too fast for me to keep up with. So I am looking into getting qualified traffic from other sources.

I was planning on building an educational website that covers many topics. But before I start I want to have a clear plan in place on how to get qualified traffic. Are there any ideas you may have on doing this? I know there is the PPC option and affiliate options but I wonder if there are more?

    Yes, there are other places where you can get lots of traffic here are just a few:

    1)Facebook - set up a facebook page.
    2)Build a List
    3)Squidoo
    4)Post in Forums and give useful information
    5)Pay Per Click
    6)Guest Posting
    7)Solo Ads

    These are a few straight off the top of my head. I am sure others will add to the list.

    But there is plenty there to start you off.

      When it comes to traffic there are alot of methods that brings results if used right. These include:
      PPC-
      PPV
      Adswaps
      Safeswaps
      Solo Ads
      Banner Ads
      Newspaper ads

      You just have to research them and see which method fits your site and give you the most targeted traffic and conversions.

    Free traffic? Let's keep it simple: you can get traffic ANYWHERE you're allowed to build a link. Nice and simple. Of course, you have to follow the rules. The best policy is to aim for a WIN WIN situation.

    I love Facebook, including Facebook ads, but your "covering many topics" may make it difficult to gain momentum with a fan page. Fan pages work best that focus on a specific topic appealing to a group of people. Trying to publish a Facebook page on unrelated topics would probably be a waste of time.

    You could theoretically create multiple Facebook pages - one for each topic on your site, but this would be a lot of work and would require a team to do it well. If you have a big budget, it's possible.

    Every additional, unrelated topic you have will add to your traffic workload unless you have tons of money to throw at BingAds or Adwords.

    I agree SEO is difficult given the search engine changes. This is why it's good to have a traffic generation plan before you launch on any given topic, whether each topic is on one site or separate sites.

    I am not much into FREE traffic sources as it takes time. In case you are looking for instant traffic sources, Facebook Fanpages, Facebook Ads, Solo Ads are good ones.

    Whatever source you use make sure you build a list of it. That's what going to help you in the longer run. In case you are into MMO niche, you can get started with running few FREE WSOs (high quality).

    Post in Forums with your signature. Works like a charm!

    Email people / companies that might be interested in your article (Not product).

    Offer helpful tips.

    For example: Imagine you are a SEO company and you do a search for a particular keyword. Email all sites on the second page or whatever with something like "Hey I saw your website is on the second page. Check out this article I wrote. It will definitely help you out".

    safelists ( it does take some time to get results)
    Facebook Groups
    Forums

    Paid :
    PPC
    FB PPC
    Banner ads (buysellads)
    Solo ads

    It is better to take one method and concentrate on it until you master it then move on to the next method
