Please review this method of selling affiliate stuff

Hey, dear friends. This is Max here. I'm about to test a curious method of selling affiliate products and services and building a mailing list of high quality leads at the same time. It's based on what I've learned and something I figured out on my own. I haven't seen a lot of people doing the same though.

Here is what it looks like.

1) You create a professional ad for your affiliate product or service to advertise with Google Adwords (or whatever your advertising option is).

2) You link this ad to a unique squeeze page you've prepared. On this page you list all main problems the product or service you're promoting is about to solve. At the end of it you offer people to enter an email to access a free video that gives them a perfect solution to all of these problems. If they are serious about finding this solution they gonna definitely type in their addresses to go further.

This page builds your list and you know what these people (your leads) are looking for/interested in. You segment your list to separate a specific group of subscribers who target specific needs and keywords. You're getting extremely targeted prospects no matter if they buy on the final step or not.

Of course, you're not going to overwhelm them with information on this stage. For maximum impact you'd better keep your message very short and to the point. Highlight your strong call to action below and show off your well designed subscription form that causes itch to fill in the name and email.

3) Once they enter an email they're taken to your product review page. You gonna set it as a ''thank you page''. Make sure they're redirected here after they hit ''let me in'' button on the squeeze page.

Your product review page is just a page with a single video and a link below it that finally takes your visitor to your merchant's sales page.

Video reviews seem to be better because of sound and visual impact unlike simple text. You can demonstrate your product in action and represent yourself as a real human person behind your recommendation. This is powerful. You pre-sell the best way in this case.

When people pass these 4 steps ( click the ad > enter an email> watch your video review> reach your vendors sales page) you FILTER traffic and end up with super qualified leads sent to your vendor. These are most targeted potential customers to convert into buyers. Filtering traffic is important as most folks are not immediate buyers who grab a thing at first impression on your vendor's sales page. So it's out of the question to link your ad directly to it. You need those steps of filtering.

What happens to the visitors who haven't moved on past your video review?
They've entered their emails so they're on your list. You will market other relevant products to them later. You now know their needs/interests/problems. Why haven't they bought that product? May be the price is too high, may be features are not satisfactory, may be they don't trust that vendor, who knows. But relevant products might meet their needs and earn you money. Plus, you gonna build better relations with them as long as they're on your list so that they trust you and your reviews.

Guys, I want your expert opinion on this system. Would you help me, please?

Here's a list of questions to be desirably answered:

1) What are flaws and disadvantages you see in this method?
2) Have you seen people using it? Do you use it yourself? What's your experience?
3) What improvements would you suggest to make it perform better?

Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Max

They might not have enough incentive to enter their email. Remember, you're trying to gain their TRUST. Maybe you'd be better off with the reverse optin technique.

It is very much possible I see nothing wrong with it.

Thanks, I think you're right. I'd better off advertising my opt-in incentive instead of affiliate products.

Seems like it's impossible to improve this system:

I'm actually going to send out free useful video tutorials to my list every week. So I wonder if I should announce it on one of these pages. No, it's too overwhelming for them to digest.

What if I make a video lesson that brings value and only at the end of it I review the relevant product? This looks messy though . Too much for them to watch. Videos must be short. No.

Only flaw is Google Adwords won't approve an ad sending traffic to a squeeze page.

This issue is murky and difficult to figure out because many businesses promote pages with email opt in forms. I asked Adwords about this and their response was (I'm paraphrasing):

If your primary business is collecting personal information, it's not allowed. However, if your primary business is selling a product or service to leads, information harvesting is permitted.

That's what I was told. I suspect Adwords wouldn't approve your ad.

I realize you include "whatever your advertising option is", but I just wanted to give you a heads up about Adwords. BingAds is far more lenient. I've sent traffic to a blatant 100 word squeeze page with BingAds. The upside here is BingAds is a lot cheaper than Adwords.

Facebook is a little tricky - I funnel Facebook ad traffic through a Facebook property such as a fangate or promoted post. I've not tried sending Facebook ad traffic to a squeeze page - but by the sound of the amount of info you'll have on your squeeze page, you may be okay. Facebook ads is my preferred paid traffic source right now due to targeting and cost - but I funnel through a Facebook property.

Otherwise you have a thought-out funnel. The key will be optimizing the entire funnel which will take plenty of testing, which requires plenty of traffic.

Thanks for the note, jgant . I appreciate your help. These tips are very valuable for me.

There is such a thing as having too many steps. You may get some people who abandon the whole process who might have bought if you just gave them the 5 best reasons to buy and sent them straight to the sales page. The only way to know for sure is to test it. But I would guess you are making it too hard for the potential customer to purchase. I routinely abandon sellers who waste my time with lots of unnecessary information.
