Need help understanding potential offline strategy (LONG)

I'm new to the offline arena but doing well thus far.


Before I entered this market, I had planned to create a city portal/business directory as a way to get my foot in the door and establish my credibility within the community.


Then I met with a very well-connected local website designer. She already has a portal planned along with influential backing and resources.


She and I will be working together, however, in an effort to maintain the momentum on my personal offline campaign I'm planning on doing the following to enhance her efforts as well as my own:
  1. Create some mini-portal platforms (ie: MyCityRestaurantReviews, MyCityPetLoversParade, etc.).
  2. Use those platforms to create audio, video, and written content thereby getting my foot in the door and establishing my credibility.
  3. Using my ever-increasing knowledge of SEO to push those portals to the first page of Google.
  4. Eventually link the mini-portals to the city-wide portal when it goes live.
Does this idea make sense? How can I best implement it to benefit us all?


I was planning to use WP blogs as my primary platform since I'm familiar with them.

    I think your idea makes sense and you've obviously given this TONS of thought. Plus this biz partner of yours already has some contacts with her previous clients, so that should be a big boost for you.

    WordPress is definitely the way to go.

    I think the keys to making this project successful will be:

    * Fabulous content that keeps the site visitors/customers interested and involved

    * Doing the behind-the-scenes work to make these sites rank high in the search engines

    You're definitely on the right track!
