Blog Site with Two Reviewers

Hello,

I'm looking to start a new review site where each product is reviewed by two different people of different backgrounds. It's going to be a Siskel and Ebert type of thing, where each of the two people write reviews and possibly slanders the other reviewer with comments like "He's nuts... this thing is so unintuitive, I don't see how he's even managed to get it to work." There will be a lot of personality and "back and forth" going on between the reviewers. In the end, two sets of scores will be shown for product attributes, along with an average consensus score.

So the question is... what is the best tool to use for something like this? I see a lot of Wordpress templates out there setup for doing product reviews that would be great for one reviewer. None of the ones that I've seen looks to handle multiple reviewers very well. I'm really hoping to get away with using a template that is fairly "out of the box" without writing gobs of custom code. Any ideas on how I can construct something like this?

Thanks,

RB

First of all that's a very interesting idea. Would love to see how it comes out. You want to definitely go with wordpress. Even though you see a lot of wordpress sites doesn't mean its of used. With wordpress you can fully customize it in any way you want. Whether that's adding your own theme or your own banner you can do it all with wordpress. There are thousands and thousands of themes to choose from. You can find a theme that fits your characteristics. Best of luck!

    • I think that is a great idea. I jotted it down.

You may just want to stick with a free WP theme and divide the post with an adsense ad or image or something. You could probably make a templete that had a picture of one reviewer at the top corner and then a picture of the other review half way down the post or something.

I'd keep all the content on one post though so you get some extra love from Google for +1,000 word posts.

If you don't mind, can you PM me the domain, I like to watch your site evolve.

Good luck - don't let the lack of a theme stop you. Start the blog, get 20 posts out there and then go back and make your theme look pretty. The theme is probably least important!

Ha! I see your point... in the context that we are doing this in, it just might work. I'm not letting the cat out of the bag completely just yet though.

At the moment, I'm in the early stages of exploring this idea, trying to figure out how to go about this. I've done quite a bit of web development before but I'm new to Wordpress and it seems to be a good tool for this application. I just installed it on one of my other website domains just to play with it and see what it is capable of. From what you guys are saying, it looks like I'm on the right path.

      Thanks,

      RB
