Hi, i'm David, just joined today on warrior forum and thought I'd make a general post. Been internet marketing for about a year but just found out about warrior forum today unfortunately

So tell me, what are the biggest challenges you face on a day to day basis being an internet marketer?

Getting high quality backlinks. It takes a lot of time going from blog to blog asking permission for article syndication, guest posting and bog mentions.

    • Two things: 1) taking action and 2) waiting for results

We spend too much time worrying about what Google is going to do next that we don't take action. In every business if there is a sudden change in the environment or new technology any business could fall flat, we need to adapt. That is how every successful corporation operates and you should to from and IM perspective.

I hate waiting for things. One key to IM is to collect enough data to make informed decisions about when/if to scale, stopping, split testing, etc. Collecting data takes time and that is hard for me. My most profitable ventures are those that I start, forget about, and come back to realize I've made money and then I scale the crap out of it.

Time. Time is the most precious of all resources.

The better you get at time management, the more you get done, the more lives you can change and the more money you make.

    Lack of funds!!!!

Just went through divorce which literally cleaned me out (she had pricey solicitors).

For the time being I have to look for free everything - Information - Autoresponders - Hosting etc.

    Yup - it's that bad.

Still - got rid of her!

Taking the time to learn something then when you get to the end realising it is more or less obsolete and is done another way. In other words keeping up with the jones and keeping knowledge of what is happening and what is the most recent developments in the IM world.

There is also the big struggle of creating content for your first product, getting known, getting traffic etc.

      Hang in there, Alan!

Lots of Warriors have bounced back from adversity just going with free methods. You've hinted some good starting points and as long as you have the available time, you can start to develop some effective campaigns that will get you back on your feet.

Although from the smiley face, I sense you got great peace of mind which in my book is priceless!

  • Motivation

A lot of the work we do is soooo tedious. I'm happy for the work but I have to keep finding ways to stay motivated to keep moving.

Both focusing one method and persistence are my biggest challenge for the internet marketing. Because of the time. All people have 24 hours in a day, so I must manage it.

    A couple of things:

    1. Middle Management - We've got a team here in the Philippines that does a great job, but we've struggled to build up the mid-level managers to replace ourselves. It's something we've been working on this year with mixed results. We recently brought someone out here from the US to help with some of our marketing efforts.

    2. Development/Design - Compared to our peers, we spend a ton of money on this and aren't terribly happy with the results. We've tried quite a few things and still struggle with this...ugh.

Website Brokers - We can help you sell businesses making $500 to $50K per month.

I come from a management background and I have to say I know what you mean. There is a huge difference between those who call themselves managers and those who can actually manage.

Focus-just focusing on getting one thing done at a time. My mind starts going everywhere after a few minutes. I've been working on it, and must say I'm getting better. Decided to write my tasks down for the day, and go through the checklist to keep me from jumping around.

    Taking Action

I really think those are some of the worst fears in IM.

There seem to be those here who are having problems with managing time and focus.

For me, I deal with these by having a dedicated work area, a desk with decent seat. May sound daft but it works... in terms of managing time, I just have a list of to do's. Mark each off as you work through (the prioritised list) then end of play, write the new list out with additions. If the same thing pops up, you can see it and deal with that.

Those who have seen my threads will know I have yet to build an IM site but the issues of weak areas (being able to build a site but rubbish at marketing etc) is not something that is in the IM field alone. The skill is understanding what you can do, then do that well. learn what you can't if it doesn't take you away from a more efficient activity and outsource those things you can't do to a reliable worker. It is enough (mostly) to understand what needs to be done without having expert knowledge, with this you can have an overall view.

Finding enough time is a major worry. It is like put twenty pound of potatoes in a five pound sack, or maybe six. Well, certainly it is not any way near seven.

    Biggest challenges:

    1. Staying focused from start to profit

    2. Fighting off "shiny object syndrome"

    3. Being flexible and willing to try new things

Definitely distractions and jumping from one thing to another. I "suffered" for a long while with the "latest shiny object" syndrome but am recovering from that particular disability. I have to set a strict list of To-Do's everyday or I end up not getting anything completed.

    Hi and welcome,

It's always been time for me. That's my biggest challenge. I even use a timer for certain tasks, especially forum marketing/blog commenting.
