When launching a product, prior to doing it, i see some people use a blog

What would the blog be used for prior to releasing a product?

        Most likely contents like videos etc.

        It's also great way to keep people updated and get ranked well in search engines. But the main reason is to enable connection between the person who launch the product and the potential customers.
