Building a list with Twitter?

Hi Folks!
I have been getting a decent twitter following for my focus group site.

I want to take the step of messaging them for the free pdf I offer with my opt in so I capture them. in my list.

I don't want to miss the opportunity to capture them and give them the PDF if they want it.

I know you can auto email people when they follow you, but I thought I'd let the site get warmer before I did that.

What's the best way to do this?

    I always used to do well by offering a freebie from the url link Twitter allows you pointing to a squeeze,. Don't really bother with Twitter these days, but I generally ignore DM's.

    How about ignoring twitter altogether and focusing your attention on much more profitable strategies and tactics? Twitter, and list building don't work as well together as the social media fanboys would have you believe.
