Why would a Clickbank product be unlisted?

Recently, I got an idea for my first ebook. Before I decided to move ahead with writing my ebook, I decided to see if anyone else was already promoting a book on the subject. To my surprise, someone else already has an ebook in the niche. They have their e-book setup through clickbank. The site I reviewed is specifically promoting the ebook for affiliate marketers to promote through Clickbank.

When I go to Clickbank, the product is not listed anywhere. I've done multiple searches for it, but it isn't listed anywhere. I am wondering if this could mean that the previous author abandoned his ebook and left the site up. I did a search for the ebook on Clickbank analytics, and it looks like it has a gravity of 1 over the last month.

Can marketers decide to unlist their ebook on Clickbank if they don't want everyone promoting it? Is it likely that the author has abandoned the project? If he wasn't having any success with his ebook, I'm not sure I want to write my own ebook giving the same basic information.

Try to buy the book, that should show you if it's still active.

Good Idea. I might do that, but I'm still perplexed as to why the product isn't listed on Clickbank.

I'm not sure, but I think it gets unlisted if there are no sales for a specific period of time.

And, yes, a marketer can decide to unlist his book through his account settings.
That does not necessarily mean that the author has abandoned it.

For example I sell products using clickbank as payment processor. But for the sales process itself I use Fantasos. So I create the product links in the CB interface, but I do not want them listed at CB.

Ralf is correct. If you read ClickBank's policy about the Marketplace, if you do not make any sales for a certain amount of time they remove it from the listings though customers can still order it. I have an older product like that which I'm changing to a blog then I'll get it listed again after I update the site.

Another possiblity is that it is a new site and you have 'found' it before it made it's way into the marketplace.
I'm not sure if you can choose to not have a product in the Marketplace.

There are several third party sites you can use to research ClickBank products where you can enter the userid and get a history of the product as well. You might want to try that if you're interested in researching the success of the other person's product.

It could also be a extra product being sold by a vendor. I have one account where I sell more then one product. But only the main one is listed in the marketplace. For each account clickbank only lists your main product.

It can be a product sold through CB, but not listed on CB if the vendor is using something like Easy Click Mate. CB only lists the one product, and all the others sell through that product's account.

I had a few products with CB, and I chose not to have any listed in the marketplace. I was just using CB as a payment processor (I am not a paypal fan).

Thanks for all of your help! I didn't see any threads related to my question, so I figured this might be a good thread to start. I think I will continue promoting the Ebook and see what kind of success I have.
