Help Needed for Tracking Leads

Hi,

How can we make sure that the merchants/affiliate networks are not shaving? What tracking do you recommend to track all valid leads?

I see a lot of clicks but very few conversion.

Thanks

My question is will it track clicks or conversion? How do I know that if link click has converted into a lead or not?

    Thanks

All tracking script should be able to do this for you.

I use bevo and imobi to track clicks and conversions.

What if you are using two scripts but they report different info?

I can understand you would get different results using two tracking platform to track the same landing page. This can't be done correctly. unless your using analytic with your tracking script platform.

Two conversion tracking platform would conflict with each other. I've tried this in 2007-08 with clickflipping, keywordxray and xconversions.

A free solution for tracking affiliate sales from organic and PPC traffic is prosper 202. You will have to install the script on your server. Prosper 202 works for all popular affiliate/cpa networks.

None of these systems recommended will tell you if the merchant is shaving conversions. If they want to add some code that says "50% of the time, don't put our affiliate conversion pixel on the page", there's absolutely no way for you to independently audit that unless you have access to the backend code on their website. Even if you get permission to add your own conversion tracking code, they can selectively display it just like the code for their affiliate network, and cheat both of you out of those commissions.

If the affiliate network is doing the shaving, then none of the systems recommended so far can help either, unless you can get your own conversion pixel onto the merchant's site. If they let you do that, then you'll have an independent record of all the conversions and would be able to compare it to the affiliate network's count.

Like many business relationships, it comes down to trust. Work with companies you believe are ethical and are sufficiently disincentivized to cheat their affiliates.

What Dan Grossman mention about adding code to on the conversion page of the offer would be only way to track shaved leads.

What i like to use and try eliminating shaved leads is fingerprint tracking from bevo.
post on fingerprint with bevo troy.
