Would This Work As A Business?

This seems simple but would it work? I make a facebook fan page about baking. I then create a monthly membership site where I email members say 20 new recipes per week. I charge $7 a month for this. Seems like this would work.....what do you guys think? Am I being too optimistic....would people pay for this or not?

Might work but you need to think of what makes your service better then the free ones...

No - competition is good. But so was the advice you received - you need a USP!

It might work if you compile recipes into sub categories like for weight loss, athletes, over sixty, vegetarian, etc. Just because it is free elsewhere doesn't mean recipe collectors have seen it all. I was able to turn a PLR product into a series of ebooks and it sold. Other people who bought that same PLR product just gave it away free by posting them on their website. Go figure.

The information provided doesn't hold any value, its freely available.. so generally no it wont work.

There is precious little you can compile nto a product that isn't freely available
on the internet. What does that have to do with the marketing?

OP... if you're just going to compile some recipes I'm going to agree with SuperKC.
Recipes are everyhere. You need to add value. One way is for you to actually be
the product. Engage the market on a personal level... I could write a long time
explaining this but Im just going to refer you to the guy who probably understands
this better than anyone... go to this site and learn...

Thanks guys. I guess choosing the niche can be the hardest part. Does anyone have any other suggestions maybe?

Its all about actual value delivery.. that kills your informational products unless its dynamic information (information that changes daily like research or football scores). Live data Think live data, research, downloadables, resources, things people can build other stuff with like what companies like graphicriver has done..

It could work but you need to do much more than just throwing in a bunch of recipes... There are probably millions of recipes available out there, either free or paid, so you have a lot of competition... Just check out sites like allrecipes.com or foodnetwork and you will get the point... Also, go to Amazon and check only Kindle Store for cooking ebooks - tons of them and new being added every single day...

However, since many Kindle books are selling pretty good, and since there are some Clickbank products in this niche, I believe it can work and be profitable, but you would need to find your unique approach and make your membership (or product) interesting to potential buyers...

Maybe you should go with detailed recipes with photos, maybe even in step-by-step format (each step covered with a photo), or maybe you should concentrate on healthy recipes with included nutritional facts and explanation why it's a good and healthy recipe, or something different... but try to be unique in some way, or provide your customers with benefits that would be worth of monthly membership...

Just throwing in bunch of recipes copied from another website or from PLR package won't work...

    You are doing this backwards...

First, find the hungry market (no pun intended), then deliver the product they are hungry for.

The marketplace is littered with the corpses of "great ideas" that never found their markets.

And I am with SuperKC a couple of posts above. You will do better bringing real value in the form of timely data. Recipes, in general, are going to be tough to monetize unless they are both highly sought after and hard to find elsewhere.

You all have good suggestions and I think the recipe/baking niche will be hard. What about something like photography, write a book, design clothes etc.

No matter which niche you choose there will be thousands and thousands
of people competing with you. The information pertaining to any of the
niches you mentioned is freely available just the same as the recipes.

I'll say this once again then let you do as you like... go to the website
I posted in my last response and read, watch, listen and learn. This man
is a genius at turning freely available information into very large sums of money.
