Sales letter design really matters?

Hello,

I have seen many high priced products with very attractive site design, header, footer, and nice ecovers..etc..etc

But does the design really matters at all?

Please share your experiences and views.

Thanks
Shakul

In my personal experience, yes and no.
A sales page CAN convert with no graphics at all, as long as the communication on the page is well designed. However, well communicating graphic can add to this, and to how professional a site looks. This, can sometimes dictate the outcome of a sale.
So in other words, its all relative.

I guess I'm just trying to address the point in the sense of design and what this means. Nice looking graphics don't necessarily mean good design. If a sales page is well designed and with minimal/no graphics, it can still convert extremely well, perhaps better that one with a glossy, graphics filled page.

The focus should be on Communication, whether this is visual, or textual.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for good graphics (I SHOULD be pushing for graphics, since that is what I do), and I personally will respond better to a site that has nice graphics as part of the design, as long as the communication on the page doesn't suffer as a result of it.

        Hope that makes sense...
        cheers!

It's like telling us, "Hey, I don't have money to design my sales page but I can show you how to make money."

        You get what I mean

    Pictures speak a thousand words.

If the design can bring across an instant message to the
visitor and get them to stick around to find out more,
then you've won another battle towards making a sale.

Design does matter... but it does not beat what you've
    got to offer.

For example, if you have the cure for hair loss for balding
women, you can talk about it with good copy to sell it
even without pictures. But a before and after picture is
much faster and transfers the immediate benefits to the
    visitor.

    Hope that helps.

    Design matters.

It can have a HUGE impact on conversions.

But that doesn't necessarily mean an "attractive" design
