Is this concept true?

I am writing IM ebook in my own language and I wrote about whitelisting ability of autoreponder services but not individuals. I said something like this:

"Installing an autoresponder script on your site and sending messages is possible but once email services blacklist your domain from which you send emails, then you can not whitelist it and your email messages will not reach inbox.
But in contrast autoresponder services CAN whitelist their sending domain even if the email services blacklist them.
"

Is the idea right? I do not want to write wrong information and am asking you fellow warriors. give me a word or two. Thx.

Hey If you want to write about Whitelisting it's basically nothing more than the "End User" adding your "Email Address" to either their favorites or "Whitelisted" the only way it can become "Blacklisted" is by the CAN-SPAM Act, which protects People from being "Spammed" hence why it goes into "Spam Folder" depending on the messages received.

That is what I believe but I repeatedly read that using self hosted autoresponder is risky because "if your domain gets blacklisted, you can not whitelist it but if the big autoresponders like getreponse, aweber... become blacklisted, they can whitelist it"

But the truth of the matter as I understand it now is that it is the email receiver that whitelists the sender's email and not the senders no matter what. So why do we hear so many talks about the risk of blacklisting when using self hosted autoresponder?
