How Do You Promote Your Sites

There are so many ways to promote your site, specifically I would suggest any of the social media avenues.
I would also use forums that are specific to what you are promoting. For example, I have a bridal shower site, and I often visit anything to do with wedding forums.

also if i went on to a network forum what would i do comment on things or just ask people to visit my site ?

Not a good idea asking people to click on your site in forums. They'll see this as spamming. Just contribute by posting helpful information and if they allow it put your website in your sig link.

as for social media, you can create a fanpage then using facebook ads to get people liking your page. In my opinion promoting fanpages using fb ads would be better than directing linking to your website, because it creates a viral effect. People on fb genrally do like 'liking'

You're right, I should have elaborated!

You need to join communities that relate to your topic and contribute meaningful posts and information.

With social media, it is somewhat the same. You need to join groups and contribute to conversations. With Twitter, you need to make sure you interact, follow, and re-tweet people. With FB, get into conversations with other groups that focus on your topic. With Pinterest, post a lot of content, and follow others.

It is not a simple solution and it takes time. It is well worth it though.

I promote my blogs using pinterest solely, currently i am averaging round about 3k+ unique views daily, i am confident i can take that up to 10k UV's in couple of weeks,
Just have to make good sites having optimized images, then making pinterest profile and joining relevant group boards, then start pinning ...

Pinterest helped me to double the traffic to one of my sites.

It depends to a certain extent on the niche for this to work. Some lend themselves to images that people like to repin.

It can take time to build up. You have to keep at it. You can find some good gigs on fiverr that will get you started with a number of boards and pins.

The best promotion is still free promotion because you won't have to pay anything which could decrease your profit. There are some great ways to get free promotion:
-social media
-article marketing
-video marketing

As the poster above says, paid traffic is worth a look. I actually used AdWords to launch my membership site last year - it didn't cost that much and I got my site to 1000 members in less than a month. Never could have achieved that with SEO alone.

Forum traffic is good and I get lower bounce rates from people following forum links. But forum owners are tough on you these days - I got a 3 day ban the other day on WF for excessive talking about my .sig.

Then, I distribute the video and blog post on the following sites to get traffic and build backlinks:

1) Facebook
2) YouTube
3) Google Plus
4) Onlywire
5) Social Monkee
6) Social Adr
7) Vimeo

Do this everyday, and you will get plenty of traffic.

Do you actively go around and try to comment on people's things on Facebook in order to get them to like your page? Or actively try to gain followers?

Or do you just post a link to your blog post on each of those sites, then that's it?

Social Media is the best way to promote your blogs or sites nowadays. But its not easy, read more about social media strategies, its not only share a links on it you need to create a massive network on all social media sites. Another way PPC & SEO as well as social media.

Go for facebook ads, its much cheaper and highly targeted. Capture leads via auto responder Updated your blog weekly with new articles, videos related to your subject. Mail to you list weekly, this way you can build traffic and make your blog popular.

If you think it is easy then it is easy,but hard work is needed.Firstly you have to choose a write keyword then build back-link for your site.Forum posting is very helpful for any site.

Whatever you do but do it wisely. Follow legit ways.

These days social media is a great source of traffic. But your site has to be informative and engaging. Remember forum is also a social platform. If you can make good videos then there is chance of getting viral promotion which will build your reputation and build traffic. Also network with other people in your niche. This will help to spread your site.

All these tips are really useful. I would add guest posting - write articles for other websites (industry related) and add a link pointing to your website (it depends of the guidelines - some accept adding a link pointing to your website in the article body, some let you add your link in the author's bio).

I used to do a lot of backlinking but it doesn't seem to work as well anymore. A few weeks ago I saw that everyone on page 1 had a lot of social media so I started using retweeting services (socialrota and retweet.it) and they are working very well so far, go social!

Social media such as facebook is the easiest way to have a good source of traffic on your site, let us say you have 3000 friends in Facebook, post your content on it, probably some of your froends will have to visit the site indeed.

Yamaha, another solid traffic strategy is to find blog and website
publishers looking for "guest bloggers" and "guest article writers."
Just make sure to put their site in Alexa to see if they rank for
enough traffic. Alexa of up to 100K is good. They get eyes on
their sites.
