Fmycollege.com- what's it worth?

Hey I recently picked up this domain. It is in the same form as fmylife, the hottest thing this side of the sun. Anyone have any idea what the domain alone is worth?

I haven't heard of the fmylife site, but if it is hot, maybe you could contract a programmer to make somewhat of a clone using your domain, and then flip it.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Hookup google analytics to it as soon as possible, so you can show some good reports about traffic to potential buyers.

I think if you find good ways of monetizing the site you can increase your ad revenue. It's a good name and FML sites are hot right now get on it before it fadess...

I think you have a great domain there, maybe putting some content and aging it a little will get you to sell it for some good money.

Check out FMyClone.com. You could put that up and have it just college related. Should be able to make some steady money.

Both of my college age kids (and all their friends) LIVE on fmylife on their iphones.

Sounds to me like you have something interesting on your hands!

I have done extensive research on clone scripts for an FMyLife type site and this is the best I have found

      Here's what I would do

      (1) develop the site or use some out of the box script to get it developed quickly...high speed low cost is the important part, assuming it actually works obviously.

-integrate a post to twitter/facebook feature for each new thread people start.

      (2) put a couple of seed threads on the forum so it's not empty once you start marketing it

      (3) to get it to start off with a bang, you should try marketing it via viral facebook group or facebook ads to california state schools. Target the hassles of the budget crisis and how it's making students mad.

I say this because I personally know how frustrating this budget is for students. Getting classes at San Diego State was really frustrating during my 4 years their (just graduated). I've heard they redid the entire class schedule and made it worse this time around.

Im sure students are pissed off about this and I'm sure it's happening at multiple colleges in CA...give that a try and see if the viral buzz picks up.

note: this is not a stab at the CA state budget or the school system. Just a thought of how to capitalize on current sentiment going on in your market...
