Why are you not successful online...

My friend just sent me this. I think many of you should read it.

I think that one of the major problems that people have is that they never take action on large projects.

They research and plan and research and plan and don't take action or they don't sustain that focus and action.

They get the dreaded paralysis by analysis. They have too many people talking in their ears about different strategies and different niche markets. Chances are that they have a great strategy to work with and they could finish a project and start making good money online, but they never get around to it.

I know all about distractions in your personal life and while you're online and about all the different strategies and different niche markets. I struggled with information overload and distractions etc.

Don't let any limitations stop you from achieving online success. I hear so many excuses from people who aren't successful online.

Stop making excuses and start creating solutions.

If you don't have enough time in your day, then start to outsource some things. If you are getting distracted, start making a schedule and develop some self discipline. If you need some start up capital sell some things or sell your services or cut back on unnecessary spending.

One of the keys to my success is that I obviously took action and focused and finished my own big projects, but one of the big keys was to break big projects into smaller projects. You make these smaller projects easier to finish. Progress breads confidence.

It builds a person's confidence and shows that you're making progress and that big project doesn't seem so big when you start finishing smaller projects. Before you know it you have some real progress.

What do I mean when I'm referring to a large project?

Well, that depends. A big project is putting up a website or a blog or creating an information product etc. These are all big projects and it is not only about creating them, but also getting targeted traffic to them.

Just remember to not be too perfect, you can always make improvements along the way, just focus on finishing projects. You're not going to make money online if you aren't finishing projects.

Failure, at least in my opinion, seems to breed uncertainty and if allowed to fester creates doubt and even the "It won't work for me" belief.

When someone first starts anything they are full of excitement, dreams, plans, and joyfully look forward to working on the needed tasks. Once they've found out the hard way that their site, ad, idea, whatever, didn't succeed they may get discouraged, but still have some belief left. Too many failures and people start to believe that nothing will work for them. They get to the point that they are afraid to expend money and time on things for fear it might not be the right direction, the right way, the "thing" they should be spending time on.

They then turn to buying all sorts of courses in search of the "holy grail" of success. The thrill of the first venture gone, they get a new thrill from each new product launch that they buy. A couple of weak tries at the latest thing, and the cycle repeats. "Those dirty SOB's sold me another course that doesn't work"

I could be wrong, but that seems to be a common way things happen. Then you have those that are bright and succeed on their first venture, then keep on doing it. They have a few setbacks, but keep on the positive and profitable side all along.

Funny how you KNOW jumping around from thing to thing never works, but you still get sucked into it anyway!

    Bottom line...

No strategic action = no money!

Someone has got to do the so-called grunt work in order for anything happen.

Interesting thread... Yes, I see folks not taking action having obvious difficulty achieving success -but I agree with the point about focus and persistence - my success comes when I'm able to focus and be persistent, but it's more than that....

It's when I take time to plan my attack and reverse engineer a project and then evaluate it again before I begin that I'm more likely to achieve success.

This doesn't take long, but it does mean I am more conscious about what I want to achieve with the activity before I actually take action.

For me, the reverse of this is when when I get excited about one marketing idea or methodology or product idea or another, and if I allow myself to just flitter down that path each time the inspiration calls, I end up trying to move 10 footballs down the field an inch at a time (drives my VA crazy!!!)

However, if I strategize a bit first by asking myself a few questions:
    - Which project /action will provide the greatest results for the least effort?
    - Which activity is a part of that 20% of activities that will produce 80% of the revenue?
    - Where's the lowest hanging fruit that I can pick, complete, and systemize first?

My last question is about my values - does this activity align with what's important to me and support how I want to show up.

I've found that I might be taking action but if I'm focusing on the 'wrong' thing or too many, success is marginal compared to when I'm more intentional.

often times people want to take action but need the extra 'big brother' kind of effect to give them the last push to get it done.
