Best self-hosted autoresponder for sending 100,000 emails/day?

I have been thinking a lot lately about a self-hosted solution for my autoresponder. If anyone is currently self-hosting their autoresponder I'd really like to chat with you.

I'm currently considering using arpreach as the autoresponder and then hooking it into an smtp relay service as, it would seem, this gets better delivery rates that sending out email from one's own server.
What are the requirements to get this in place? What kind of hosting account do I need and with who?

I'm a solo ad vendor so, my niche is internet marketing.

Any recommendations on stmp service, keeping in mind I have a largish list and do 4 sends a day to my list (talking about 25,000 per email, so upto 100,000 per day). I know most stmp services charge by emails sent so this could start becoming expensive.

Is arpreach the best auto-responder or do you recommend another. If so, why?
What are the other issues I need to consider if I decide on a self-hosted solution?

How do I migrate my list onto my self-hosted autoresponder?
I have tons of other questions.

Moving over to an self-hosted solution is a big step and I want to make sure that I successfully migrate over to it without it hurting my business.

I'd very much like to correspond with someone that has actually moved from a third party system to a self-hosted on.

Anything we discuss would remain confidential.

Thanks
Robert
