How Do I Encourage Comments

I need comments on my website!

All my previous websites, I have avoided comments because of the spam element, but with my new website My Neck, I actually need them .... I need interaction with my readers ..... How can I get this kick started?

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Ask 1-2 relevant questions at the end of each blog post, provoking the reader to answer one or both in his comment.

Comment on other blogs in your niche. It is likely you will come across a few bloggers who will return the favor. If the comment is thoughtful and high quality, you may also get some readers from other blogs who take the time to read the comments on a post.

    1) Encourage readers to comment

    2) Provide high quality ijnfo

    3) Actually "turn on" your comments feature

    4) Build a following via your site/blog

    5) Offer prizes

    6) Continually get repeat visitors back to your site/blog

If you want them to interract, try to interact with them. Ask them questions, ask them to rate things, ask for more opinions or for different answers on your topics.

I know it sounds silly, but ask for them. That's the biggest thing you can do. No one will comment unless you ask them to. So make sure you end every blog post with a call to action that encourages comments.

"What do you think? Have your say below..."

"Do you agree? Disagree? Leave a comment below..."

"What's your take on XYZ? Do you agree? Have your say below..."

    etc, etc, etc.

You could install Comment Luv, that helps get comments sometimes depending on the niche.
