8 Is Enough - How many emails do you send to your list?

Yesterday I received an email from one of the email list I am on telling me about another great product. I read email looked at sales page and checked out product decided to pass on offer, then exactly one hour later same list owner sends me email about another great offer, same response, hour 1/2 later another email and on and on all in total 8 emails in one day promoting different offers.

I know I am no super affiliate or successful JV but seriously how responsive is your list if you send 8 offers in one day? Do you think maybe eventually they will unsubscribe or stop reading your emails all together?

If your objective is to just turn and burn why build list instead send them directly to sales page and hope for the best.

How often so you email your list?

Thanks

It depends what you are trying to do with your list. Some people just churn and burn them looking to milk as much money as they can, as soon as they can.

Then there are the successful email marketers who treat it like a real relationship and take time to educate, build authority and credibility, and look at the list as a long term asset of their company.

No guesses for which makes you more money. But it also takes more work and thus why most people don't do it.

Thanks Will, I agree it does take more work to build relationship which is why some marketers don't want to go that route. Guess that's why some marketers are succesful and some are not. btw I am on your list and I like the fact that you don't promote every product that comes your way, I can tell this because I may get 1 email from you every 2 weeks if that, and it is always with detailed actual review of the product and Why it is a good investment. Thanks

Thanks. I mean it's nothing special I do. The reality is most marketers out there have made it very easy for normal marketers to look exceptional with no effort. I only email people when I have a need and if there is something I have to tell them that I genuinely think will get them closer to their end goal. Sadly most marketers do not. It's not that I am doing any exceptional it's just that the average marketer is operating way below par.

I prefer 1 email per week but the most important thing is that you need to provide some useful things not just offers.

So many emails not a good sign I would personally get irritated and unsubscribe from the list. Its way too much. Not a good practice and those doing it will loose subscribers.

I personally email my list every other day. I make it as personable as possible. That way I figure every other day I'm not going over board making them want to unsubscribe.

If I get more than 2 or 3 emails per week, I'll generally unsubscribe. I simply don't have time to be reading email offers about this or that all day.

1 email every 3 days for me.

If someone emails me once everyday... i instantly unsubscribe. 8 of them tho?

This marketer gets instantly ignored with great vigor from me forever... and i tell my subscribers and customers about them.

I email my list a1-2 times per week. In terms of what I tolerate from the lists I am subscribed to, it really depends. I am on one guy's list who sends me something every other day. I don't necessarily buy all his products but I really like his style, short and sweet. Then there are the ones that only send one email a week but it is like a 60 page essay, who reads that? I am quick to unsubscribe to those.

What I think is ideal is to send 2-3 per week, only one of which is a sales message and the other two are focused on providing value and/or building a relationship with your customers.

ya that is a terrible strategy for anyone with an email list. Hopefully the products they were pushing were at least in the same niche that you would actually be interested in them.

You send them what you tell them you are going to send.

I have one list in which I tell the person subscribing that they will receive 1 email every day for 15 days and then there after they will receive one or two emails per week. That is what they get.

It does not matter how many or how often you send emails it matters that what you tell them they will receive is what they receive

Every day, and make it very clear that I will too.

Great entertainment value, great opens, clicks, and sales...

Anyway, do what works best for you

I never really get why folk are so against getting an email a day. Especially when the majority of top email marketers advocate it.

    Sure, it's not for everyone.

8 a day is way over the top though!

The record I've heard previously was 6 emails a day, and I thought that was a lot. You're hitting astronomical levels doing 8 a day, that complaint rate must be high as well.

I've heard of resending the email to unopens to gather a response but I can't imagine any successful marketer doing 8 and not get their account shut down shortly thereafter.

Personally I think more then 1 a day is probably too much, I sometimes get 2-3 from the same person a day and it can be annoying. The only time I would say this would be acceptable if it was something really big like a product being launched that has been in prerelease for awhile.

But most of these guys sending out 2-3 a day are usually just sending me some offer.

I think most people who responded here got it about right... a few a week or once a week is okay... Also keeping in mind what they are emailing me.

I would say, one product a day with 2-3 Email's that that.

But it depends on the method you use to communicate with your email list.
The information in the email needs to valid and you need to get a red line through it to optimize the profits.

    This is just my opinion.

One email per day...but keep a good balance of pure content and selling email. I only send 3 or 4 offers to my list in a week..

8 in one day would definitely make me unsubscribe! You should never send more than one email per day. Personally I prefer 2-3 emails per week. Also you don't want to constantly be selling to your list. You need to include content and freebies as well. It's important to build a relationship and trust.

Seems to me that these ads all in one day came from people who bought solo ads from this vendor.

8 emails in one day? That is too much in my view.

My follow up series is set to email once every day for the first 2 weeks and then every 2-3 days after that and my subscribers are aware of that, it's all laid out on the thank you page and welcome email.

I will send a broadcast email when I have added new content to the blog or a product worth talking about - there's no fixed time for that.

Sometimes I add content more regularly than others.

At times I don't find a useful product to talk about for a few weeks and other time I might mail one to two times a week with recommendations as there's some good stuff out there.
