what is some legal reasoning to lower a price in adcopy???

The classic start at a huge price and lower lower lower until it looks like a great bargain.

What are some legal ways or reasons to give as to why you're lowering the price? Like where it would sound convincing that there's a reason for it.

And or some kind of time deadline in which they need to take advantage of the lower price but done in a way where it's legal???

Say that your product will be added to a deluxe or elite package in the near future and until then it is available at a knock down price.

Say the lower price is available to the first 100,75...50 customers after that the price goes back to normal.

Have a time limit on the lower price...say 48 hours.

Wow, you have a great idea there with #2. Never thought about that but as long as you increased the price for a while after the first 100 sales it would be legal.

    Okay...

Let's say you're selling an ebook.

And you write a sales letter or VSL to pitch it.

If you can communicate MASSIVE value in your copy...

If you can express how your ebook (or blueprint, formula, course, etc.) can help people create something they really want and need...

...you can start out with a higher price point.

    Something like $47.

You've got to make sure your benefits are transparently on the table - so your prospects can create an attachment to what you're offering.

    Right? Make sense?

    Then...

You can explain that it's REALLY important to you that EVERYONE can take advantage of your ebook... and change their life (or whatever your benefits are.)

So you knock it down to... say... $27.

This hopefully demonstrates your sincere desire to get your ebook on as many people's screens as you possibly can (because the ebook really can HELP your prospects, right?)

You've built up a HUGE amount of value.

And you were already given it away at $47.

So by knocking it down to $27...

The purchase becomes even more of a no-brainer.

You don't need to do that fake scarcity bullshit (e.g. "Act now! Only the first 50 people get the $27 price. After that, I'm going back to the $47 price point!")

You just need to make sure you're communicating the kind of value and benefits that connect with what your prospects REALLY want.

As long as you can do that...

Your conversions should soar. (With the right traffic, of course.)

    Mark

p.s. Drop the question about finding a legal way to screw with the price. Wrong mentality to approach marketing.

  • The person who is offering a product or service looks to create an incentive for the consumer to buy the product.

Pricing the product or service at a high value and then offering it for a fraction of that price for a limited time creates a sense of urgency to save money and buy now rather than wait. Often times, if the consumer decides to wait until later to buy, that consumer is simply going to forget to buy. Providing a special price with a time constraint attempts to get consumers to buy on the spot.

if you're in canada or the US you need to keep things very legit. Otherwise you could end up getting in big trouble.

I'm in the US, as are others here. Can you tell us what are the legalities that you are talking about?

You're joking right. There's tons of laws concerning ad copy and marketing. It's so sad. It's pretty much Nazi germany.

I stumbled upon one that worked like hotcakes. I have a digital download product and then I also have the same product available as 2 CD's and a printed manual. My printer messed up so it wasn't the greatest quality. So, I advertised "Our printer messed up, 1/2 price sale-while quantities last". I sold out in a couple hours! I stated that the colors were a "bit off" on the cover and cd labels but the rest of the product was fine.

I like that one I'll have to write it down. But for bigger courses, you can't exactly say that or it makes you look unprofessional.

You're not actually lowering the price.

You're providing more VALUE than the PRICE offered.

So think of a way to deliver $997 worth of value for $27.

One easy way is to highlight the time savings benefit, if a particular product contains everything in one place when the alternative is to spend hours researching on Google.
