Setting up a wordpress ebook site

Hi everyone,

First post here! I would like to find out from those who know what my best options are for setting up an attractive looking wordpress site to sell an ebook? I am looking to find out:

Best themes and where I can get them
Best secure website hosting
Best payment processing service
Best ebook hosing service
Anything else I need to know

I don't have a ton of informational pages; just want to do enough to get ranked on google for my topic which is not highly competitive. I *think* I just need a good theme, a few well written pages, a sales page, social network links, payment processing etc.

Thanks

I've done some searches and it seems that maybe woocommerce could be good. Trouble is all the themes I see are ultra modern looking which won't work for my subject matter. I need a blog style layout with some kind of a vintage look.

Also open to suggestions for any other solutions out there.

I joined a product store, you know the thing PLR articles, software, ebooks etc and one of the things I downloaded was an ebook store website, pre-built etc. The thing is, it's a bit above my brain scale. However, it came with giveaway rights.
I'll do a deal with you. If you pm me, I'll send it to you. If you can get it working, you send me a quick email telling me how the heck you did. If you can't work it out, no problems but let me know if you couldn't and I'll try someone else. How about that?

Do you want to sell one book or many books?

    for that kind of blog
i would recommend Optimizepress for landing pages, it is bit expensive if you want to go for cheap then use elegantthemes which i am currently using they are cheap and their customer service is brilliant
for hosting hostgator is a go go
I am using E-junkie as payment processor which serve's e well
For ebooks i host them on my own hosting service
And remember always use redirect URL's in your ebooks it can be a big trouble if you use direct URL's,
Sometimes you need to change url's then it would be impossible to do so for people who have already downloaded your ebook
I use a WP plugin for this purpose called pretty links
For opt in's increased efficiency there are some plugins, currently i am using pop up domination which offers pop ups for extra opt in's and frankly i am dissapointed using it, there are very less flexibility in it, and it offer way less features then another plugin which is far better then this with respect to features, that plugin that i would recommend and i am also gonna buy it in near future is "optin skin" not only you will have pop up's but also you will be able to place beautiful forms at post's end and footers which serve's very well in increasing opt in's
    I hope this helps you

Woocommerce is good as it allows for “virtual” products like e-books. If you're using PayPal as the processor, make sure your hosting company isn't blocking the API return.

I use a genesis theme, host with Bluehost.com, woo commerce is great, although I use JVzoo and let them do the selling.

I think you just need to look for a good shopping cart that will integrate well with your theme (or vice versa) and if it has an autoresponder, all the better.

For more information on which hosting to use, if you use the search bar at the top right hand corner of the forum, you'll see several threads with people giving their opinions and experiences. That should help in your research.

I use 1ShoppingCart (because I have many infoproducts) - Clickbank or E-Junkie are fine if you have one or even a small number.

Payment processors include Paypal, Clickbank and 2CO - each serves a different purpose for our businesses. Some products I completely sell through Clickbank to get the affiliate/partner coverage, others I sell on my own with 1SC and Paypal + 2CO

I also have my own merchant account for tight integration with membership site software.

To keep it simple in the beginning, start with either CLickbank or E-junkie

I use Optimizepress 2.0. I have a sales page set up, and also a blog on the back end. I like OP becuase I can do all the work myself and can change anything I want quickly and easily.

I use DPD to deliver the eBook.
