My email marketing problem

My problem with IM is - my list. I had 1800++ subscribers already but less than %1 of them purchases products via my aff link. How can I increase the product sales? Please help.

Can I ask how you grew that list? Have you built a relationship with that list or do you just send them offers? You need to provide value and build trust with your list for them to buy from you. Plus I find your copy make a really big difference to whether they actually engage with your emails. I would find some email marketing training, i.e. copywriting, building relationships etc and see if anything changes. Also are the things you are promoting to your list even of interest to them.

To be able to answer your question you need to look at all the things here to determine whether they trust your recommendations. A list size can be important but how profitable it will be is how good your relationship is with your list, particularly as people not get so many emails from various sources they become less responsive.

That is actually pretty decent. My click through rates are usually 2-5 %. So with 1800 I'd get approximately 36–90 clicks. Depending on the offers conversion rate I'd expect something between 3-5 % so from those 36–90 clicks I'd get approximately 1–4 sales.

    That 4 sales is ~0,2%.

If you make $50 / sale, you are earning $200 / day. I think that is pretty nice profit for 15 min of work

Things that come to my mind

      1) The email subject: affects the open rate
      2) Your relationship with subscribers: affects the open rate and buying as well
      3) Your projection of yourself in terms of a particular niche expertise
      4) The source of your email leads...are they really interested in your product?
      5) Do they come from a free offer or are those your previous buyer?

May be answers to the questions above will give you some insight into how your list thinks.

    Hi,

The quality of your relationship with your list is a BIG determining factor
as to how good your response is from the emails you send out to them.

It's always a good idea to get them on your side right off the bat.

Just explain in your first email who you are, what you are going to be
giving them in the upcoming emails and how often and why.

It's far easier to meet someones expectations when you've already
told them what your actually going to give them rather then just
hitting them with emails and hoping for the best.

Writing emails that give away quality information, build trust and win
over your subscribers allows you to then add those money making
links without looking like someone who's just out to make a quick
    buck from them.

Test different email campaigns against one another within your A.R.
to see which ones come out on top.

If you're driving traffic and adding leads into your system on a regular
basis you'll soon be able to gather up some pretty revealing data that
can allow you to make real decisions rather then pure guess work ones.

Hope this helps you out my friend.

    Regards
    Gavin

My personal experience dictates that the perceived open and click through rates for the "IM" and "MMO" industry are much higher than reality.

People seem to think they'll get a 50% openrate right off the bat.

The reality is that these figures aren't even close.

    Get a list of BUYERS?

Then we can talk about >=50%.

There's many factors that come into play and you must tell how you did build your list. There's a big difference If they all purchased a product from you vs signed up for a freebie. There's no way you'll be able to sell as much to the freebie seekers as the buyers, 2 completely different scenarios.

Something tells me that these aren't buyers, I may be right I may be wrong, until you let us know it's of course speculation. But if you have 1800 buyers on your list you obviously know how to sell and then you probably wouldn't ask this question in the first place.

I'm not sure how I should interpret that 1% are buying from you, do you mean that you have an average of 18(1800/100) sales for each mailing?

The fact is that the majority of your list is probably tired and burnt out on your emails. Start offering them quality information for their time, and they will turn around and start buying via your affiliate link. Give them value!

1 - Build a closer relationship with your readers. You can do this a few ways.

You can send them an email early on after subscribing that asks "what do you want from me?"... make them reply with their answer... then give them what they want.

You can build more communities outside of your email list where they can participate and be connected with you on more levels. The more they see your name and associate you with the fix, the more authority you carry. Fan pages are a great example of this extra community. I've been having Xbox gaming sessions with my buyers recently just to add another way to connect. Go shoot some aliens online with your buyers and they will open your emails :-)

Launch products you create to this prospect list. The more content you put out, the more authority will naturally come with your name... the more of these prospects you can convert to your buyers list, the more active they will be towards your content.

2 - Grow a bigger list. If you're making all your sales from an autoresponder and you don't want to be as active as the above suggestions require in this niche... then just find ways to run more people through your system.

Both of these methods will increase your sales. I suggest doing both :-)

The reality is that with a similar list of subscribers (1k-2k) a few years ago, with the same profile of subscribers (non-buyers, using the same traffic sources, using the same style of emails, everything similar) you can easily get up to a 100-200 clicks per email or more (for the IM niche). So with a list of just 10k subscribers, you can easily get up to 1k clicks or more. That's when you saw Clickbank doing some record Gravity numbers, mainly from email marketing. With a buyers list, you will get a substantial boost. Email marketing though is still the most profitable online marketing channel out there. Many have accepted the "new normal" of lower clicks and engagement with emails (and many monitoring companies and email marketing companies have reported year-on-year drops), and some have taken action by mailing more often, getting more subscribers, providing tons of value. Or building a bigger buyers list. You can take actions and adapt to the "new normal" and get an "abnormal" performance.

The main solution is to send more emails (max 1-2 emails per day, you can also send to unopens only as the second email per day). You want to be there at a person's point of need. You never know when they will need a money-making solution, dating solution etc. They may receive an email promoting a product that they are interested in, or even a piece of content that they would be interested in, but at that point in time, the need for the information is not there. The only way to ensure you are there at the point of need is to be there in the inbox often.

Another problem for email marketing is the added media in today's world (social media, apps, smartphones, other digital media) that are taking attention away from email. So you have to use multi-channel marketing (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, SMS Marketing, apps, Dropbox apps etc, some companies are even using WhatsApp marketing) to make up for the attention gap that has occurred. This is the attention gap and the amount of time that more people are spending away from email as compared to before. Offline marketers and companies even use omni-channel marketing, basically using online and offline marketing together. One proven way to use offline marketing for list building is to put up classified ads in newspapers.

Also, spam filters are tougher now. Gmail has added Promotions Tabs (and Updates Tabs), many real promotional emails are now going into the Primary Tab, but the problem has not gone away. People can simply move emails into the Promotions Tab. Also, if the Updates Tab is turned on, many real promotional emails will be going into the Updates Tab. So you have to pay more attention to your emails and send test emails before sending out.

All in all, as long as actions are taken, email marketing is still very effective and the best way for reaching subscribers and customers. Many companies have reported that email marketing still converts and is far more profitable than social media. Many people still buy products from their email on a desktop/laptop far more often than they do on social media and on mobile devices. The latter two avenues are definitely gaining, that's why one has to increasingly use all avenues.

Did all of your subscribers personally subscribed to your mailing list or did you just subscribed them into your system? What is your product so we would know how we could help you. You could improve the emails that you send out to your list and improve the product itself.

Those results are not bad. It's not fantastic but you are doing something
right. Did you see the other post on the board right now about a much
    larger list and no sales?

You need to increase your list size and from this nurture your customer
list (that is if you get their emails before they make he affiliate purchase.)

Well that is most likely the case with many emails lists today as most people get too much garbage mail. Also, if you have built a bad list, as in you have not got the right people on the list, do not expect them to buy from you. All the best. Regards

The traffic source used to build the email list can help you to determine your marketing strategy.

For example - If you used Solo ads to build a list (IM niche) then you should be aware that most subscribers to your list must be there on many mailing list of many other marketers.

So if you don't send mails to your list daily, you are only going to lose because some other marketer is going to send mails and get the sale. You would be better off sending mails 1-2 times every day without worrying about unsubscribe and getting the extra sale.

Have you found out what they actually want and need? Why did they sign up to your list? Is your offer relevant to that? Find out what they are looking for.

If your list isn't growing, it's dying. By as much as 20% in some niches. Unless your pure churn and burn you have to toss idle emails into a idling sequence to nurture or the very least keep the lines of communication open until they opt out or the email goes bounce.

Grow, cultivate, harvest, repeat. All 4, all the time.
