Why do Marketers and IMers get such a bad wrap???

I often get the impression from a lot of different directions that IMers are basically con artists. Kinda bothers me.

Ya I know there's been a lot of scams online but then all these people seem to paint all of us with the same brush. Like we're all just out there scheming and scamming people using hype and trickery to make sales.

Like there's a lot of very black and white jobs, but I find it difficult to put IMers into that kind of a catagory. I could be wrong but it seems like anything involving marketing means you're trying to trick someone into giving you money. At least that's how an awful lot of people are painting it these days.

I don't get it though, like we're delivering real products. The product that we describe on our site is generally the item that the buyer gets. So how is that a scam? Just because it's quick and easy money that makes it a scam? Then again I suppose anyone making easy money is considered some kind of con artist these days.

Wish we didn't get such a bad wrap.

  • The first time I was sold a car took like 6 hours it was a new pickup truck I wanted to womit after the whole thing and regretted buying it. I think marketers sell just like that guy and use all the tactics. What I found works the best is educate, build a case, prove then all you have to do is like a lawyer close, make the recommendation better said, I think if that is what would be done we marketers would not have a bad rap but many are like the car salesmen.

By the way after that car disaster I never ever went back all my other cars I just buy at the repo auction at least the last 3, maybe a few more years and I'll dare to walk into a dealership one more time, but this time I give it 99% chance of walking out which I didn't do last time.

aceshigh888, My friend... take a look at Facebook, watch the posts on some of the marketing groups and how it is all about join me...join me... I have the mother of all business opportunities... the most amazing comp plan ever... " You don't have to do ANYTHING except turn on your computer and it pukes cash all over you!"...

This type of marketing is seen not only by other marketers, but the public in Facebook is banged up side the head with this stuff constantly... look at that and you will no longer ask "WHY"...

Most is from new and not yet successful marketers... The sooner they see how they are damaging more relationships than they are developing, the sooner they will find their true voice of value to the marketplace...

give service, give value... more in value then you receive in payment... you will soon find yourself finding your success...

I used Facebook in my examples, but it is the same principle, online, offline... doesn't matter...

I would agree - had a very persistent one on FB last night (made me chuckle a bit - she was using a canned approach and followup statement I had seen before) and I just sent her to apply at my site which quickly shows if people are serious and committed.

      She disqualified herself

I'm a wee bit sad for her, but I hope it was a learning experience.

In contrast I've just had a txt to tell me someone else has just started the small journey of making an application.

because most will do for anything for a sale.......ethics/legal/morals don't mean much to many.

Take a look at the products review section. It's basically all fraud. Dot everyone wanting to do it right there are 20+ who don't.
