What kind of merchant to use?

I have a site that has adult content and I plan to sell banner ads on it to other companies. I have a non-adult site for my company and would process sales on my normal business site.

Can I use a regular credit card merchant since transactions would be done on my business site?

I'm asking because the adult merchant accounts seem very expensive.

    You should not use your regular merchant account to process adult content sales. There is a reason why adult merchant accounts are more expensive and that is probably because it is considered a high risk business model that will encounter more chargebacks and such... You should check to see what your normal merchant account says about this; they probably prohibit it.

    The reason you should not process with your normal merchant account is because when your adult content customers decide to file a chargeback, it will be revealed by the customer that they want a refund for the adult content they purchased, the credit card merchant company will then find out from the customer and penalize you.
