Hello,

I have been using SEO for product promotion from many years. It's effective and result oriented. But recently my one of client demand me to work for email mass marketing. I have searched and collected a list a top email marketing providers.

I have a question to ask: how much email marketing is safe? Is it considered as SPAMMING?
So far I know sending unsolicited email is considered as SPAM.

Please provide me some tips and service providers.
I would really appreciate all replies.

Thanks for giving valuable time

    Depends several different factors.

    1. What is your target audience
    2. How have they opted in to the list
    3. How much valuable content can you give with each email

If you audience is eager to receive content from you and you can really give then unique value-adding emails, then you can send 1-3 times a day / max.

If you are just using emails as generic newsletter once a week would probably suffice.

If you send less than once a week, your prospects might even forget who you were and mark your emails as spam. Same thing if you send more than 1-3 times a day.

For service providers I suggest GetResponse or Aweber. They are the industry leaders.

As long as you have a way for people to unsub and you have your physical address in your email, you are safe.

      I use Aweber.

If you collect emails with double opt in - you are good to go and it's safer.
As garyt wrote - if you fill the legal stuff you are good to go.

By the way, email marketing has the best ROI.

Always double opt-in, show address, and unsub button in every message. Those are some of the little things you need to cover and maybe look into some details that are specific to whatever niche you're promoting.

Big name companies like Aweber and Getresponse are still great for small to medium lists. Once you have 25k+ subscribers you might want to look into other alternatives.

Permission based email marketing is not spam. Basically you get subscribers to opt in to your email list thereby getting their permission to send emails to them.

Unsolicited email marketing is surely spam and you should refrain from doing it.

You can double opt-in, and do many other things to email legally to your list...
... but subscribers click SPAM button periodically and your website hoster may suspend your website.

I'd suggest start with aweber and similar services.

When selecting a website hoster make sure they allow spam complaints from time to time (ask how frequently. Double optin lists over 100K subscribers bring in about 1 SPAM complaint daily).

I personally suggest sending emails 2 times a week max, otherwise most people would be put off and unsubscribe or just ignore your emails.

My definition of spam is: Any email sent to someone that didnt sign up to receive those email, and/or hasn't opted in

I would recommend mailing your list once per day twice maximum.

Mix up your emails with valuable information, free offers, reviews, and paid products.

Personalize the emails and be responsive if people reply.

Don't spam mails that have not chosen to opt in to your list. If they have opted in they are wanting to hear from you.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi,

I think 2 to 3 emails a day is excessive and unless the content was free useful information I actually need as opposed to sales pitches, I would definately unsubscribe and certainly not read them from the same sender because I have better things to do then read emails all day long.

I never send more than 1 a day and sometimes every other day. Also a newsletter once a week. Any more is too much in my oppinion.

Also make sure your subscribers are all double opt in where they have to confirm it really was them that requested you email them in order to say access a free download initially and recieve follow up emails with a 3 information to every 1 sales pitch ratio about right?

    Hope this helps you.

    Stephen & Jennifer.

P.S I have never been accused of spam and have been online for over 3 years today.

You have to set your own standards and 'teach' your subscribers to look forward to your emails.

    Personally I do 2 - 3 emails a week.

Some subscribers will response to once a week, others will response to once a day. It's up to you to decide

  • On one of my niches I didn't email for a long time then got accused of spamming and on some I might mail every day and not get accused. It's all relative some people will say saf is 3 times per week some 1 time a week some every day and I know some big multi millionaires in my mastermind groups who mail 2 times per day broadcast plus whatever the auto-responders are setup so it might be 3 or 4 sometimes! It's all relative i'm pretty sure not the answer some people want to hear.
