If you run a blog and you allow comments then you probably have to deal with comment spam.

I use akismet and it does a pretty good job at filtering out the garbage.

On occasion I browse through the comment spam to see what kinds of goofy things people are spamming my comments with.

Like today, I saw someone with a link to their "swine flu ringtones" site! Seriously, this is weird.

Or another left this comment (keep in mind that my blog is centered on traffic generation)

Some of the spam comments are so lame and unrelated to my niche that I start to laugh and I get funny looks from the people around me.

Anyone else getting goofy spam comments, or is it just me?

No seriously, what the dickens are swine flu ringtones? Or do you have to save on dental treatment by going to Hungary in order to find that out? The weird thing is, these dental people are hoping to get at least some feedback - I wonder if that happens, though

Everyone is getting goofy spam comments, I guess (in case their blogs are old and/or good enough to consistently show up, in which case extensive spamming is sort of a good sign). After all, it's always a great opportunity to have a good laugh.

None of the spam messages I get on my blogs make any sense whatsoever. They're just random words put together. Weird.
