How To Find Out If Affiliates Are Legit?

I just launched my very first WSO using the Warrior Plus system today. Was a little nervous but figured what the heck. I've had the product for a while...was just scared to set up the WSO.

I've been getting requests from affiliates to promote it. However, I've read a lot of horror stories about affiliates being scammers.

My question is how does one know who to approve if this is their first time launching a WSO?

Anyone who's been where I am when they first got started promoting WSO's and can give me some info that will help me from getting scammed would be great.

Thanks

Susan

Warrior Plus now gives you stats for affiliates when they're on the initial approval request page, that's a good start.

I use a combination of that and clicking through to their Warrior Forum profile, usually weeding out the people with very few posts.

Do you only choose affiliates that have made a certain amount of sales?

      Thanks

    • I always prefer personal contact - some background check - if I promote something, it is not hard for me to give the creator of the product my facebook, Skype, google+ profile, the tools I use for promotion...

so he can get to know me better. The easiest thing still is to "google" someone's name. And as said - personal contact - most scammers don't like the last option, since they prefer working in the shadow...

I've set the auto-approve to a minimum of 20 sales with no more than 5% refunds.

After that, I take a view, including number of posts here and whether they bother to put anything in the box as to why they'd like to promote the product.

It's not an exact process but it works for me.

That said, you probably won't get many affiliates reply until you make some sales anyway.

I've literally had over 400+ affiliate requests over the years from Warrior Plus. It is only about the top 15-20 of those that have made any decent number of sales for me.

My rule of thumb (as also stated in the Warrior Plus platform) is if you know and trust the affiliate, approve them. If you do NOT know and trust the affiliate, do NOT approve them.

You have to be very careful when instant payments are concerned. You set to lose a lot more than you gain by approving a rogue affiliate. So always make sure you do very thorough checks on people.

    Will,

I've read a lot of horror stories about people getting scammed by affiliates. That's why I was hesitant to approve anyone.

Thanks for your input and I will definitely be extremely careful about who I approve.

Yep, it can be very tempting for new vendors to just approve every affiliate that requests because you think it will mean more sales for you. But it's very rarely the case. I would say 95%+ of affiliates that request will never make a sale for you so by approving them you are simply opening yourself up to a lot more risk for no potential gain.

good thread topic... any tips on screening affiliates in general, outside of wsos? (Im going to be using shareasale network, and don't want any scam sales/chargebacks); was thinking holding funds 60 days before payouts, to minimize fraudulent aff cbs
