Hey All,

How far can your marketing go?

I'm getting very close to launching a site that may possibly disrupt the video sharing world. It will be the biggest change in video sharing in years yet it is so simple. Has many advantages over all existing sites and the monetization system far exceeds them all. Not going to get into it here but was just giving some insight.

What I would like to know--All you folks with mailing lists, leads, downlines, marketing experience, etc etc do you or can you use these resources to promote a site.
If so, what kinds of price tags are involved (ballpark).

I do realize that the vast majority of members here are into affiliate marketing and money making sites etc.

When we launch I want as many people to see the site as possible (preferably at least half the world lol). Im using every avenue possible.

I'm going up against the big boy of the internet so there will be no time to trickle in users. Google will squash me to protect youtube.

Let me know on the marketing and I just thought of a joint venture idea for all members here which I will post in the appropriate section.

Thanks
Dean

I guess I'm not privileged yet to post in joint venture section. I will talk with admin and see what they can do for me. My joint venture idea could be very useful to this entire site and it's members.

    Hmmm.

I will be very interested to visit the site when it launches.

However, I do think you have slightly high expectations, at least you acknowledge that Google will not let you disrupt youTube

It will be a massive task for you to "disrupt" the video sharing world as you say and you should be ready for disappointment.

Can I ask how much money you have at your disposal to sink into this?

First of all just to make things clear, I'm not here to promote the site by way of forum. I am however looking into this avenue of marketing to go along with the rest.

A year ago when I was just starting on this project I wouldn't of believed I could disrupt things either but now it is a reality. Like I said earlier, no one has brought anything new and fresh to the video sharing sites.

I'm not too worried about disappointment anymore. Regardless of whether it disrupts or not it will be very popular. The surveys showed us that already.

The real expense is the hosting but after months of studying youtubes early days I have dramatically reduced the time to achieve break even. Youtube never did break even before they were bought. Learn from others mistakes, and they did make some big mistakes.

But back to my marketing questions from you folks.

As said before, I am intrigued at this site, PM me when you get it going so I can have a look.

Now is a good time to try and compete with YouTube too considering the majority aren't happy with the new commenting system.

If you get the world out and can convince people to leave YouTube or at least visit your site too, I think you could be on the right track.

Google won't care about you at all until you gain some ground beyond other video sharing sites like Vimeo and Daily Motion. If you can show some muscle and pass them up, game on.

Ok people, I would love to discuss my site all day but now it's time to get serious. Please take me seriously, this site is almost ready for beta testing, it will put a new spin on video sharing and it will be big.

I will be letting you guys in on a secret that I discussed with a programmer early this morning that will benefit you people in a way that google can't even do for you. That's how unique my site will be. What I can do for you has nothing to do with videos or advertising (in the traditional sense).

I'm here for info right now, not to argue with skeptics. The concept is so well liked that everyone that knows it or heard it, right from the developers to the investors have given no resistance. None

The first question is big and probably can't be answered without serious collaboration but rough estimates will be good.

What would the total direct reach of all members here be?

What would you do and charge to promote my site?

And I will throw this one in just to do some fishing:

Any social media marketing guru that wants to be part of the team please feel free to contact me.

      Thanks

        Dean,

From the questions you're asking, it's obvious that you're new to marketing. Especially when you say "How far can your marketing go?"

        Marketing is everything.

The Internet is littered with great products that were marketed poorly or not sufficiently. People don't show up at your website just because you have a wonderful product. Affiliates don't flock to promote your business simply because you have a good idea.

The title of this thread "Big site marketing" exposes your thinking about what you have and how you're proceeding. You don't have a big site and you're not going to until you have a little site that grows over time. Even Google and YouTube began as a little site.

When you say "I'm going up against the big boy of the internet so there will be no time to trickle in users" it tells me you're in for a rude surprise.

What is your marketing plan? Is it written down and have you verified your numbers with market research? How much of a marketing budget do you have to spend? If you don't have time to grow your site naturally, paid advertising is the only way I know to shorten the growth cycle. How are you going to monetize your site to pay for your advertising?

While your enthusiasm is admirable, it's not going to pay the bills.

You're right, I don't know a lot about marketing but the marketers do and they will do what they do. I am an outside the box thinker and wander off on my own to places like this to see what I can muster up.

I guess you can only take my word that I know what's going on and I know who I'm up against. I didn't spend the last year working my butt off gathering help, getting investors, researching everything etc etc just to put a site on the net and watch it get steamrolled by the sites it will threaten.

Trust me, I'm not that naive.
No one ever thinks the big sites can be disrupted.

What I don't understand is that all of you are here to make money yet my questions related to you making money go unanswered.

I agree that you are in for a rude awakening. Looking at your Facebook and Twitter page tells me that your "marketing team" is doing a pretty poor job at creating hype around your site.

Does your marketing team have a proper marketing plan set in place?

Yet again I'm surprised my questions to you go unanswered. Are you here to make money from your skills or be a critic on something you most likely have never been part of before.

      To answer your questions though:

Yes there is a marketing plan
and no, we don't want any hype yet. In the next day or so we will be heading into private beta testing most likely for a month so why hype it up now when there is nothing. People easily forget nothing. Sure if you have an awesome product launch or a movie then early hype is good.

The social media sites are what I was tinkering with long before there were marketers. Actually only facebook and mostly just to secure the name. How I got 1000 likes on there is beyond me. There has never been any promoting of the site at all.

The negative talk doesnt phase me anymore. A year ago I went through it all until they got to see what I had and not one person that has seen it has said one negative thing. I know what I have.

I just wanted some info and possibly make you some money.
