Tip for those with a forum
A very useful feature that I think is often overlooked by many forum owners is the mass mailing tool. It basically sends out a "reminder" to all your forum members. Depending on your forum software, it could be automatically scheduled to do this every X days or so, or it might have to be done manually, regardless, it's a good way to remind inactive members to come back.
However, it has it's cons too as some "non-bot" spammers/trouble makers might come back as well (I've actually had some users return who have not logged in months to simply post a spam advertisement on my board!) so keep this in mind.
