Sales page for affiliate vs squeeze page for opt in

Hi all, I've got a question like to check with you guys. I researched a lot here saying that if affiliates were to promote a vendor's sales page, they would prefer the ones with no opt in box.

So if I've got a sales page without any opt in, just for affiliates to promote, I would set up the website address to be [www.mydomain.com]?

Then on the other hand, I would also like to capture my own leads with my own opt in box. Can i set up a squeeze page with this address: [www.mydomain.com/signup]?

Is these the best method? I want my squeeze page to capture my own leads and send my own emails to direct them to the sales page, while using the sales page for my affiliate to promote as well.

If you want to capture leads, then you must give credit to the affiliates that send the traffic to that domain. If you don't want to give credit, then use another domain altogether. That's only fair....

Oh no, I wont be giving the page with opt in to my affiliates. They will only promote the sales page without opt in options, this way it will only be fair like you said. Just that I'm unsure of the web address...

So I'll promote my own opt in squeeze page as www.mydomain.com/signup.
While www.mydomain.com is the main sales page, which has no opt in options. So my affiliates can safely promote it with all credits to them.

Are the web address alright in this case?

Well in a case like that, i would use separate domain for opt in page and separate for sales page
Because most of the times users tend to go to the home page if they are on anything like domain.com/signup
Users tend to search a bit of anything they are interested, so better go for separate domain for opt in,

No. Just use a new domain name altogether for you own signups. Be fair

Actually, it is possible - by using different selling platforms - to have the optin page "cookied" for affiliates, so the funnel would look like this:

affiliates send visitors to optin page (visitors get the cookie) > after sign-up you present your offer on the confirmation page > if they buy, the affiliates get their share... you can even have next an upsell or an OTO (and decide whether you want to share that sale as well or not... or, eventually, offer a different percentage than for the front sale)
