ending autoresponder series with call to action?

I read somewhere that Gurus were using say a 12 message autoresponder series with the last mesage being along the lines of

"hey x, it has been a great ride and i hope i provided you with alot of content but all good things must come to an end, if you are serious about making money online than you will take the time to click below if not i hope this course provided you with value, best of luck to you"

is ending an autoresponder series with a effective last message call to action profitable or is it better to just keep on feeding them with messages for months or even years to come?

    I'd say every email should have a call to action in it somewhere -- even if the message is 95% pure content, you should still put at least one link somewhere leading to your sales page/squeeze page/whatever you're promoting.

    I wouldn't put a goodbye message in the final email -- leave it open-ended so you can send more messages in the future. The exception might be if the email series was originally promoted as a 12-part (or however many) series.

      Yes, KenStrong is right - every autoresponder in a series needs to be targeted to getting a definite action of some sort. Click this link, Contact me today, Buy this now - whatever.

      Here's an idea - after a series of autoresponders, end with one that requests the readers' input. "You have received all this information and although you seem interested, you have yet to X. I would be interested to hear why you didn't X. In return I can offer you Y. [a free report, a %-off coupon, whatever.]

      Sure, not everyone will respond.

      But the ones that do? Priceless!

    You should always keep sending them messages. That's the joy of having your own list. But you should also try to sell them products. That's how you make money. If you have a large list that can be expensive and if you don't try to push them products you can end up going in the hole.

    But to answer your question... Yes give them that last line call to action. But don't stop mailing them after your series!

    I like to give them a "are you in or out" type of message at the last. Reiterate what you've told them over the past few weeks, hit the highlights (especially any timely offers or guarantees) then ask for the buy one more time.

    I always try to make this message a little stronger than the others. Seems to push the fence sitters off a little more.

    I think one of the biggest mistakes I made in this area was never having a strong call to action. I set my sights way too low and didn't go for the gold. Never again.

    You don't have to be pushy about it, and it takes some time to get things ready, but once it's ready, it's no time to be timid. I think that the opposite of marketer is milquetoast. If you're going to be in the biz, you can't be a milquetoast.
