Is it silly to delete all these emails?

I have collected over 15 000 emails over the years and I am just thinking of deleting them save for the current emails. Why? Because they have a very low open and click through rate now and they don't convert that much plus my complaint rate in aweber increases when I send these older opt in emails.

However I am just feeling hesitant of pressing that delete button.

Will they remember you / your brand? If not, then they are useless. Sending them might risk your Aweber account because of high complaint rate.

I am not sure I can stomach selling them. It just seems wrong to sell them.

The only annoying thing I can only delete hundred at a time so that is about 150 pages of delete. I thought I could do it all at once but it doesn't look like I can so I may have to do it on a day I have more time on my hands.

      It's a double edged sword.

There's bound to be people within that list that use software which blocks the tracking images that are embedded in your emails by default to track opens / clicks.

The open / click rate isn't entirely dependable.

...but perhaps holding and paying for a list of 15k sans stats isn't too effective neither.

One alternative is to send a test email where you explain the situation:

    1. how did the receiver end up to the list
    2. why haven't you contacted them meanwhile
    3. what are you planning to offer them in the future

And give them clear and easy to see option to unsubscribe.

Or send a email stating that you are deleting everybody on this list. If someone wants to get your GREAT offers in the future, they need to opt-in through this link => [link to new opt-in form]

This way you might squeeze some subscribers out of it.

Do you know why they are on your list in the first place?

Do you know what their desires, problems are?

If so, you can resuse this list and send an email to them to visit your landing page.

Deleting them away just like that is deleting potential goldmine. Can you stomach that?

PS: if you want, you can sell solo ads too.....

Try sending a couple of emails to a new form and just see how many you still have active. And stick to them. You can delete your old/big/stuffed list after making the new one

This is a very good idea. It will sort out active and inactive people. After that, you can easily delete those emails who are inactive.
