Does anybody here have any experience with autoblogs?
Have you ever made any money of it?

I would imagine that in the past it would have made some money but with the current google climate it probably won't get you very far.

Best to put your time into something that can last with or without google.

      Hi Newven
What do you mean with "current google climate"?

I'm talking about the Penguin/Panda updates. Most people who make sites for adsense or do just about anything to attract search engine traffic usually get slapped by google and thus waste their time. That's usually why people make autoblogs as well.

It's best to build a business that doesn't depend on google or any other 1 source of traffic. Many of us have learned that the hard way.

Autoblogs used to be popular in the past, 2009-2010, but with Google's recent updates, it is becoming less and less effective.

I haven't expereinced it, but I wouldn't recommend it either.

Google will penalize you forever you do something like that. Autoblogs:

    1. non-unique content = penalty. Spin it and you will drop conversions on everything by at least 35% due to low quality content.

    2. The hardest part of ANY website is the offsite SEO. If you have non-unique content, your offsite SEO is even less effective.

    3. Social Signals get penalized with non-unique content.

    4. Autoblogs are overpriced.

Moral of the story, you can get the same effect as an "autoblog" by queing 100 Ezine articles to be distributed over 100 days in wordpress.

Forget about getting any lasting Google love with that approach however. If you want your blog to actually do anything and rank, you need unique content.

Autoblogs are very, very "5 years ago". Most ABs I see or once owned are not having any PR/Alexa or at worst got de-indexed. Today, I'd value them at about the same level as so called "SEO software" or spamming with Xrumer. In other words: They're entirely useless.

I beg to differ. I run an auto blog per say. What is does is pull products from Amazon and Youtube. What I do though before I post them is go in and rewrite the descriptions. This way you have a product, BIN button that takes them to amazon and it ranks. No issues with Google here. Live since September and all KW are in page 1 through 3 so far.

Sales are slim but it is a product I like myself and in time should grow. So if you do an auto blog you will still need to do work but it can save some time.

Autoblogs used to work well but they're pretty much dead now, unless you go after traffic sources outside of Google - such as marketing your site through social, offline or other means. Because when it really comes down to it, the people (your visitors) just want targeted relevant content. They would more than likely not even know or care that your site is an autoblog as long as they find the info they're looking for.

I must say autoblog is still profitable. I got easy income from it and others in this thread also still have income source from autoblog. I call it "Lazy Automated Income Systems", even lazy still better than doing nothing.
