What The Gravity Number on CB Tells You About...

Dear Warriors,

Correct me if I'm wrong about this...

If I want to create a product and I want to have affiliate as many as I can to sell my product, then I have to see how big is the gravity number on ClickBank (on that specific topic). Because the bigger the number, means there are lots of affiliates on that market, right?

but, If you see that the gravity number only less than 20 (in any related product) means, it will be difficult for me to find affiliates. If I don't have lots enough affiliates, then the sales won't be fantastic.

Now, even though Google's Keyword Tool tells you that there are 300K searches per month, but if the gravity on ClickBank only show you 20, will you jump into the market?

My understanding is that the primarily element that makes up the gravity is how many affiliates have generated a sale for that product recently. So while lack of affiliates may be one element there are a range of others.

For example, the sales letter may stink and turn off potential buyers. Or maybe it's just a niche where people won't like to spend money. Or maybe it just hasn't been marketed to enough affiliates yet. Etc.

Gravity is just one element of your products success.

    All the best,
    Richard

Gravity only means how many affiliates are successfully
      selling that product.

It does not tell you if it is a good product or a good market.

You could have a crap product that sells for $49 with a great sales letter in
a weak market and give a 90% commission. You will have a high gravity number.

What I am trying to say is there are a lot of variables in your question.

Here is one more thing about gravity that you will not hear about very often.

      Some gravity numbers are manufactured.
Big sellers know that people look at gravity to decide
      on what product to sell.
So they create 100's of fake affiliates and buy the product
or products through them to create the high gravity.

They get to the top of the CB listings and 100's of real
      affiliates sell the product.

Gravity tells you how many affiliates have successfully made a sale over the past 56 days. It is a collective indicative index and is not an exact number.

For each sale made by your affiliate, the index gains 1 point. And for each passing day, this index diminishes by a factor of 0.9. In other words, the next day, the index that goes into the gravity becomes 0.9. On the 3rd day, it becomes 0.9 X 0.9. Until the 56th day (if I remember correctly), it becomes 0.1.

And no matter how many sales an affiliate makes, his weight will always be 1 max.

So if a product has a low gravity, for example, 10, he may have 10 affiliates that make 10 sales per day individually. Total sales: 100 in a day. Or he could have 100 affiliates promoting and selling a total of only 10 products.

Contrast this with anther product that has a high gravity of 100, the product may be seeing sales of 100, but there could be 2000 or 3000 affiliates promoting it and only 100 affiliates are successful in selling it.

In short, looking at the gravity does not tell you everything. But generally, a product with a high gravity does suggest that it is a popular product among affiliates and there are quite a number of affiliates promoting it.

While the gravity number states how many affiliates have made certain sales in a certain month, it doesn't necessarily say that the product is a success. You want more affiliates? Create a stunning product, over-deliver, craft a powerful salesletter, create an affiliate resource page SHOWING how profitable the market is, make the price sizable -anything from $47 upwards, give out at least 50% of your commissions. You will have tons of affs. flocking in in droves within weeks.
