Do You Know Which Traffic Source Is Working For You
I started my first blog on affiliate marketing might be some 7 to 8 months ago. My goal was to run it successfully without SEO, I decided to market it via high quality content.
I wrote 3 guest posts for other make money online blogs on Affiliate Marketing and I harvested incoming traffic by distributing it to FaceBook, YouTube, Twitter and my list.
After those 3 guest posts I totally stopped guest blogging. But I have started receiving regular traffic with it. Whenever I used to log in to my Google Analytics account I use to see major traffic sources other blogs and FaceBook.
I never dug deeper in Google Analytics to check more because my assumption was I am getting most of my traffic from FaceBook, since I never touched SEO.
But today I just clicked on Acquisition Tab and browsed through its several sections and statistics that I got was totally different than what I assumed.
- 37% of my website traffic is direct, on average they visit 2 pages per visit and spend 3 minutes on website.
- Second highest source of traffic is organic search traffic 31% with average 1.8 pages per visit and 2 minutes on website. When I searched for few keywords which I got traffic I found they are ranking number 1 on Google. I was surprised since I never touched SEO for traffic for this blog.
- Third highest source of traffic is referral traffic that are coming from guest posts with average of 1.35 pages per visit and 1.35 minutes on website.
- My list of subscribers is fourth and 5th is FaceBook traffic. FaceBook visitors spend on average 8.38 minutes on website with average of 1.82 pages per visit.
If you are also running a blog then I advise you to go through each section of your Google analytics account. You might get something which you don't know, just having a look on overview is not sufficient.
