I know micro niche sites like: electrictoothbrushreviews.com can still rank and earn money. But can micro niche sniper sites still earn money? The sites that only review 1 product. I never ever see sites like that in google listings.

Maybe not as much there used to be a year or two ago, but there are still plenty of them to be found. They don't work well for every product though - some niches and products work better with micro niche sites than others.

Yes and no. You can definitely still profit from them like I do on holidays like Halloween with my niche websites, however, from my experience you generally have to target even smaller niches unless you want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars competing with authority websites.
My websites have two features to them:
    1) They target search terms with less than 1500 searches per month
    2) They coincide with popular movie releases or other entertainment product releases with big money behind them
As you might've guessed I'm in the costume niche and from websites with only 2 or 3 quality articles you can easily make $60 per website around Halloween, but you're going to have to outsource a lot of the work to really scale that up like I have done (I currently own about 20 Halloween websites and many more coming for movie releases in 2014).
    Hope this helped,
    Alex.

Maybe for VERY low competition keywords you'll still find sniper sites that rank without backlinks as it did a few years ago.

    Sniper Sites
They still work as long as you don't get carried away with the backlinks. The reason you don't see those sites anymore, is because most had a crap load of backlinks that became obsolete after the Google updates.

As long as you target sub niches without much competition, you can still rank them fairly easy without much SEO.

Your best bet would be to use PPC to drive traffic to your sniper sites, since Google can pull the rug from under you at any time, without notice

That's one reason, another is this:

When you (as the consumer) stumble upon a website devoted to one single product in today's world, you instantly become skeptical. If that website isn't owned by the product creator, why does it exist? Does this guy love the product so much that he'd make an entire website about it, or is he just trying to get me to click his affiliate link before I purchase?

People are getting smarter, when consumers look for reviews they look for unbiased reviews and/or large quantities of reviews in one place. The "sniper" site will die completely as consumers continue to get smarter about their "interwebs", it's only a matter of time

Definitely do work but only for small amounts of money per month. Many of the courses talk about making 300-600 dollars per month on a successful sniper site. I set up a few and got nowhere near that type of money. The key is good keyword research on the niche you pick.

Yes they can work but i dont like niching down to far nowadays and what with the latest EPN update from ebay I now have started building out my sites to cover lots of products in the same niche :-)

In the end anything will work if you fire enough at it... :-)

How to Build a Successful Website

    “Sniper Sites” Are Dead
“Sniper Sites” is just another word for “thin sites”, websites of low quality. A sniper site is usually built around very specific keywords, often a specific product name, such as, say “Product Name Review And Bonus”. A typical sniper site often features a pseudo “review” on the front page, 4 or 5 low quality articles and an (often bogus) “About Me” profile for the purpose to make it look more genuine. There is A LOT wrong with those types of sites in regards to SEO (over-optimization), content etc.. so I won’t go more into detail there. Sniper sites, if at all, worked maybe two years ago. Even back then they were only good for some temporary results and were easily out-ranked by more thought-out and better web-sites. It doesn’t take that much more effort to make a better site as compared to a typical sniper site.

Because, in all honesty, most "Sniper Sites" are crap sites as I pointed out in my blog post above. Furthermore, there is no reason to make a single-site around ONE specific product, you would get lots of benefits making a high quality site and then incorporating your "product review" on a post/page..rather than building a site for one single product.

I still see plenty of 1 product sites ranking well. The other one product type "sites" are web 2.0 pages and YouTube videos that seem to be ranking well at the moment which is an alternative to a sniper site.

I dont really understand how Sniper sites function.

You post 3-5 articles on the product. The homepage being the main review and the highest word count. Each article uses product keyword and related keyword to product. You add an about us and TOS page.

How will this rank in google? Wouldnt you be beat by any single site in your niche that has more articles than your site?

Doesnt google detect that your site is like a newspaper flyer and authority sites are like a book. Even if you have more pages on the particular topic in your flyer the book will rank higher because it contains more overall content?

      im confused

Used to be very effective in the past but after too many updates it's really hard to depend on it, it's just waste of time now.

if you are referring to sites mention in one famous warrior products,
they are a pathetic waste of time

as some point, i owned around 100 websites, and loaded with original content provided by my VAs; and the cash genarated was so low, i just get rid of them by selling them as a bunch to some dreamer who unfortunately acquire the "your cash just get sniped code" provide with the best fake screen and misguided information

to give you an idea how bad these "cash cows" worked, when i replaced the affiliates promotion by adsense, the cash return increased by 3. So i sold them to some adsense addict from italy, and passed to more profitable venture

you have to realize that a lot of people here are cross promoting products, so you scratch my back and i scratch yours; so some people will say it work, when they never made a real try,
or they just assume it work because they read some fairy tale about "sniper site"

my 2 cents from real experience with "sniper sites"
