How to track sales by opt-in source?

Hi, I'm planning on buying some solo ads. I will obviously track list opt-ins by source, which is easy (custom URL). But I'm not sure how to trace sales back to the original source as my 1st offer comes after 5 emails in my getresponse autoresponder. How are you guys tracking that specific information?

Thanks

You need some kind of tracking code on your 'sale successful page' to which your buyer comes from the payment processor.

Ex; You can use Google analytics to track visitors. But I am not sure it tells ROI stats though.

Once they're in a list, don't you know what source they came from, so anything they buy is considered from that source? Am I missing something?

This is possible but requires looking up each sale and manually tallying them based on HTTP referrer (in Getresponse) to evaluate results. I am looking for a more automated tracking method if one exists.

For more comprehensive analytics in general, I highly recommend Mixpanel. But I'm not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for.

Persistent cookie would work, assuming they use the same computer to buy as they did to subscribe. Other than that, you could look up the email address of the purchaser in your subscriber data...that again would require them to purchase with the same email as they subscribed. Probably not feasible to do manually for a large volume of sales, but I'm sure there's a simple way to automate it for the right tech person.
