If Im doing a review site on barbeques (demonstration purpose). I feel that I may be able to rank well given my content imo is better than all the other top 10 sites on google. There reviews either are too short, too long and stale or too jargon/owner manual like.

my site is called barbequereviews.com (fictional)

Would adding additional free content benefit sales? Also, how much content should be added? I dont want to add so much that it becomes more of an authority site rather than a review site. Ideally I want people to buy said barbeques and not read for hours about low fat recipes. I want to enhance the site but not take away or limit the purpose (people reading reviews and getting to amazon). At the end of the day this is a macro niche review site. Its not meant to be an authority site. But I want to incorperate some benefits authority sites use to help look less generic.

Also is embedding a youtube video into a sidebar on the homepage, legal (not my video), and a good idea? Video would be short and either advertise a barbeque I am reviewing or just show some generic barbeque ad. Sometimes people will click the embedded video twice, or press the fullscreen button, in that case they would be redirected to youtube. Which is not my site or amazon, so that could be a bad thing. Im not sure on this. Need some experienced marketeers advice

Point is just to add some "zest?" to the site and make it look less like just a generic review site, and more like I really care about barbeques. When in reality I just want money

Good quality articles are always helpful. There's no magic figure when it comes to how many you should post. But if you add content gradually, you'll have new material for people to see. Personally, I dislike videos so I would say no to that idea...but others may not agree.

There's no golden rule. Try different things and see what works for you.
