Affiliate Marketing Newbie Needs Your Help

Hey guys, i know there are a lot of affiliate marketing people around here and i wanted to ask you what, how and when:
- what kind of results did you get when starting from zero (and by that i mean no email lists, no social media followers, no seo, no nothing) - what kind of traffic and conversions do you guys get right now and how was it when you first started
- how did you do it and how do you do it now? do you use social media to drive traffic? do you use seo, email marketing?
- when did you started getting constant traffic (and conversion) and how much work do you have to put into it?

What do you think is the most efficient way to get traffic to a website (or to a product page - be it on a social network page)?

My name is Nrupen Masram and I started affiliate marketing in year 2010 as physical niche marketer. Today I am full time affiliate, my niche sites get traffic from search engines, I have one muscle building campaign that totally works on PPC and Banner Traffic.

Third is my own personal blog on Affiliate Marketing, which receives traffic from Search Engines, FaceBook, YouTube and Guest Blogging.

From that you can guess almost all kind of traffic sources work. You have to figure out how to make them work.

Ques 1.What kind of results did you get when starting from zero (and by that i mean no email lists, no social media followers, no seo, no nothing) - what kind of traffic and conversions do you guys get right now and how was it when you first started
Ans : When I started back in 2010 my first sale came in after 7 months of my first niche website creation. I was newbie and everything I did was almost near to only basic level. Today every page of my niche marketing website that ranks generates 2-3 every week.
Last year I leaned PPC and Banner ads, it took me 3 months to figure out how to set them properly to get results. I was unhappy with them because cheap paid ads always bought less traffic.
This year I learned content marketing, March 2013 I set my blog and it generated first sale in October 2013. My list for blog is small but it does generates sales consistently.

Ques : How did you do it and how do you do it now? do you use social media to drive traffic? do you use seo, email marketing?
Ans : For my blog I do everything myself, I outsource task for niche marketing website. Since my blog is running on content marketing I have to use FaceBook, Twitter and YouTube to drive traffic. It is done by method known as traffic harvesting, for it first you have to bring high quality traffic from somewhere(in my case it was guest posting) then spread it on FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube and mailing list.

    Ques
: When did you started getting constant traffic (and conversion) and how much work do you have to put into it?
Ans : All niche marketing websites are based on SEO they start delivering result in time span of 45 days to 60 days. PPC and Banners send very less traffic, my blog started get consistent traffic after October.

Ques : What do you think is the most efficient way to get traffic to a website (or to a product page - be it on a social network page)?
Ans : The biggest mistake that every newbie makes is he assumes, you need lot of traffic to make sales. You don't need lot of traffic, you need quality traffic. There are no efficient ways to drive traffic there are efficient traffic plans. Sales never depend on how much traffic you send to product landing page. It depends on how well you have pre-sold the product.

When I start from zero I get zero results, makes sense right?

Once I add back links I start get traffic, mostly takes a couple of weeks before it catches on.

    Welcome to the Warrior forum

    - what kind of results did you get when starting from zero (and by that i mean no email lists, no social media followers, no seo, no nothing) - what kind of traffic and conversions do you guys get right now and how was it when you first started

A: When I first started it was slow it takes you a while to try to find something you enjoy doing and that also makes you money. You need to learn a few different marketing tactics and honestly I think its harder for someone to start making money online (good money) then it was before. The reason is because so many people get distracted because there are honestly many ways to get traffic to your site but being pulled in to many directions really hampers your success.

Find a marketing method you enjoy and really stick to it till you start seeing results with it. Only then find ways to short cut your time spent on it so you can continue to see improved results there and then build on to the next. For example email marketing, social networking, blogging, guest blogging, contacting other owners, JVs, banner advertising, media buys and the list goes on lol

    - how did you do it and how do you do it now? do you use social media to drive traffic? do you use seo, email marketing?

A: Honestly I spent more hours working on my online business then I would have ever at any hourly job. It really depends on what your looking to do. For me its about building an entire business for others it might be to just be an affiliate and earn money promoting others products. Each has its own direction and tactics you should take into account.

    - when did you started getting constant traffic (and conversion) and how much work do you have to put into it?

A: honestly day one, effort put into it every day I do something to bring in fresh faces to my site. (Even posting this could) I have come to find it that its just a part of my every day life but I don't consider it work/job because I enjoy it and can do it whenever the time is right for me such as now 5am

My best advice, figure out what you want to do first your big overall picture and then work backwords and build out a blueprint with goals and a plan of smaller goals to reach the main goal you want to achieve. Everyone's blueprint will look different because each person has different goals and different strengths and weaknesses.

    Sharing my personal experience :
    - what kind of results did you get when starting from zero (and by that i mean no email lists, no social media followers, no seo, no nothing)

It takes atleast a year if you dont know any ABCD of affiliate marketing. Maintaining consistancy is the challenge by that time.

    - what kind of traffic and conversions do you guys get right now and how was it when you first started

Conversions depends on product. I am getting good conversion on PS2 repait courses than body building niche.

    - how did you do it and how do you do it now? do you use social media to drive traffic? do you use seo, email marketing?
Earlier I dont know how to do it, now I know so doing on page seo and few backlinking, targetting less competitive keywords so seo work is less.

    - when did you started getting constant traffic (and conversion) and how much work do you have to put into it?

Earlier from Adwords but since my adword account is banned so now depending on search engine traffic. Not having success with facebook marketing.

What do you think is the most efficient way to get traffic to a website (or to a product page - be it on a social network page)?[/QUOTE]

If you have funds then paid advertising and if you do not have then SEO is the only way for marketing.

Guys thanks for sharing your stories and for the helpful info on affiliate marketing.

@nrupen - regarding PPC and Banner Ads, do you use adwords or other networks (if so, which ones)? i've been using PPC for about 4-5 year but i'm trying to reduce costs; also for marketing on FB, TW and YT - what exactly do you do, i mean do you post new things daily on social networks or just share other people's content?

    And one question for everyone:
Which one of the 3 drives the most traffic to your affiliate page: SEO (organic), Social Marketing or PPC?

I use 7 Search and Bidvertiser for PPC and Banners, read following to know how I use them,
Nine Tips To Create Banners For Profitable Advertising
How To Split Test PPC Ads
    Designing Your Traffic Plan

In beginning phase I use to post regularly on my FaceBook Fan Page now I post less frequently. Yes I do share other people's content along with some business quotes.

When it comes to getting traffic from YouTube with help of content marketing, there are 3 different types of videos,
    - Attraction
    - Sellers
    - Tutorials

Attraction videos do only one job get people's attention and then drive traffic to my blog. I have separate YouTube account for it.

Sellers are videos created specially to sell products but sales pitches are passive, means information + sales pitch.

Third type of videos are tutorial videos their job is educating and building relationship. Sales pitches are never placed in these videos.

What I do right now is little advanced, if you are new I'll advise you to start with some basic training. There is nothing wrong with it, everyone started the same way.

Again you placed a very wrong question which traffic source drives more traffic. Your question should be how to get quality traffic from these sources and how to convert incoming traffic into sales.

Any traffic source is capable of delivering insane amount of traffic but you have to master art of generating traffic from them. Sources don't generate traffic, marketers do.

I little advise don't run behind finding answers for wrong questions, you'll only waste time. There is no lack of quality education available, get your hands on anyone. Good luck.
