I am using the SEO Quake addon for firefox for doing my keyword research. It gives you loads of different tools for keyword research under the google search bar.

Here's what it says for each tool for the phrase "barking dog"

KW research: 139 google daily searches
AW sandbox: 49,500 April searches 246,000 global searches
Traffic Estimator: 107-135 clicks day
Insights: 86
SKtool: 3500 monthly searches

This is all a bit confusing becasue they are so differnt. Does anyone else use this. As far as I can see the KW research, Traffic estimator and SKtool all come up with about 130 searches a day, which sounds viable i suppose - if not a bit low. The AW sandbox though is 49,500 april searches which is massively above that figure.

I know that wordtracker is quite highly rated - as an alternative available but there is a monthly subscription fee which i cant really aford right now.

Could someone please help me out understanding these figures and perhaps point me to the best keyword research tool. Perhaps if you have wordtracker you would tell me what "dog barking" brings up in that to compare to the ones above. Im not even targeting that phrase im just using it as an example.

Thanks for any info.
