How NOT To Run A WSO...

Shoot me down in flames if you like as I've never run a WSO.

I've bought a fair few though.

Some have been fantastic. Some, worse than waking up to find my dog has shat in my best hat...

So...

I've noticed a few WSO's recently where the author has listed the offer and then vanished.

What's all that about?

Are you expecting no questions? PMs?

It's bizarre.

If you're running a WSO, be on hand to answer questions. People asking questions are customers waiting to be reassured before sending you money.

Reassure them.

Be on hand to answer questions - you'll make many more sales.

now I've gotta go wash my hat (again)

well, WSO changed a lot, that's for sure. The overall quality of WSOs is much lower than what it was several years ago, unfortunately.

I'm always checking my WSOs for any questions to answer. Although I have had pretty good sales - there usually aren't many questions. But I still check back often.

I guess you could always try PMing. But you definitely shouldn't have to.

      Hey Lin,

If you're running a WSO correctly (and it sounds very much like you are :-) ), this thread has nothing for you.

Indeed. But with a WSO this is doubly important surely? You're in the shop window not only for customers but for potential JV partners of the future.

A lot of short-sighted marketers out there looking for the 'quick buck'.

Interesting topic and I was not sure wether to start a thread on this myself but be very aware of the reviews on WSO's. I have been unable to leave constructive reviews on WSO's, without the author getting extremely irate. There seems to be a culture of doing everything possible to get rid of any constructive and honest reviews and this is quite alarming.

Without going into details here there are highly rated WSO's that I know for fact have had negetive reviews removed and this is quite worrying because there are also a number of people on the forum who dont like to see criticism of certain warriors they are fans of and proceed to bash people by PM.

Now I must stress that I am not talking about destroying or ripping apart a WSO just providing an honest intelligent review of using ones product.

Sorry if that has been a little of topic my rant is over.

Didn't read all the posts here, but that above is the most important post here in my opinion. I've owned forums with thousands of members and am a contributing member of many forums, so I know my way around them and what you'll see here, is that there is NO place to leave any sort of negative feedback for poor transactions.

Any market place that allows transactions to take place and only allow positive comments to be made and screen out negative comments is very uncostumary... to say it politely. But this should be expected, because as it appears, you have some weight if you pay to have this transaction take place.

There must be a word or phrase for this sort of thing, but it is beyond me. If transactions are allowed to take place, in my opinion, it's only fair to allow people to express their experience whether it be good or bad.

This is indeed a worrying trend and one I've had first hand experience of. There was a WSO very recently selling one of these 'mystery offers' and other warriors were asking for reviews.

I contacted the seller (34 posts, joined days ago) and offered to review the product and he agreed and sent the 'report' over.

It was pure crap. If you'd offered it as a freebie to your list you'd have the record amount of unsubscribers in a day ever recorded. Badly written, disjointed, hard to understand and no real content. How do you review something like that?

I took the very moderate view that at least the idea had merit and may help warriors come up with similar ideas using the 'guide' as a base. I did say I couldn't endorse it as it seemed to me that the guy was just selling an idea and hadn't actually tried out the idea himself in the real world.

He was none too happy with my review even so...

Any time I run a WSO, I will stay around for hours, even after it goes live just in case anyone has questions or problems. And if questions or replies come through, I answer them as quickly as I can. Sometimes both via PM and posting to the thread.

Personally myself, I welcome all feedback, whether it be negative or positive as I think that is a terrific learning tool suggesting how one can make things better for Warriors next time around.

Plus, it gives the WSO poster a much clearer vision of what is in demand from their peers.

Always have to look at the bigger picture

One thing to keep in mind is that WSO's are not active the second you post them. Unless it has changed since I last checked new WSO's are activated in batches so it may be 6 hours or so before you WSO goes live after you pay for it.

This means that for some people they may not be online when the WSO goes live and will miss a few questions or comments.

With the old system you could post a WSO and watch over it for the next hour or so to see if you will get any immediate questions, but with the current system it isn't allows possible to do so.

      I agree with Johnny here.
I posted a wso of mine about a day ago
      and guess what.
the wso went live, when it was time for me to sleep(i.e. in my part of the world)
still I answered a few pm's before going to sleep.

I would not be able to do that if the wso had went live even an hour later.

So, maybe this is the reason why the wso posters vanish after posting.

      my 2 cents.

Personally i try and be around for when my WSO goes live especially for the first few hours. Then everytime i re-bump it i try and stick about.

It's not only for the fact that its cool to see the sales come in but also there are always questions and things you forget. Like my current wso i forgot to add my paypal email to ejunkie and missed out on 10 purchases due to that fact.

I do agree that WSO's have dropped in quality as i have been a lurker for a very long time but generally also the prices of them have lowered alot too. So maybe we are all to blame!

Those who have been around since the early days remember that the WSO area was for giving warriors a MONSTER deal on information, services or other products. It wasn't for taking advantage of other members, or popping in for a quick buck. Many people made their reputations on giving great customer service and awesome product.

The problem is, over time the membership grew to the board and now it's harder to separate the wheat from the chaff. Newbies (and who's to blame them) see it as a great way to make a buck..and that's just about it. There's a disconnect between what the meaning of WSO really is..

W- Warrior (that's all of us in the fight to make money online/offline)
S- Special (well, what is truly SPECIAL about your offer that hasn't been seen before, or offered elsewhere under a different guise?)
    O- Offer (self explanatory)

There are still gems in the mix. I know because i still buy them. I'm a big fan of programs that automate my own processes. I can honestly say keyword tools and article/social submission programs have increased my income x 1000's due to the increased efficiencies. Where did i find the greats on those programs- in the WSO of course.

Some people just need to become more of a student of the game, than emotional purchasers.

I try to always keep this in mind. For me a WSO is one Warrior helping another behind the scenes. That means working together, sharing knowledge, and really cutting the price for him.

I have bought some great WSOs, but you really have to hunt for them.

Someone might post a WSO at 3pm their time and often it won't be approved until midnight their local time. Hence the disappearance. This has happened to me a number of times.

As long as the person makes a show within 7-8 hours of posting we should cut some slack.

Great in theory...except the way things go now it's often not very doable.

Maybe it used to be, but not anymore. So I think what you are seeing is more a result of how the WSO Forum runs now and less a result of bad customer service from Warriors who "disappear".

I ran a WSO a couple weeks ago that I posted at 7 pm. It went live sometime around 2 or 3 am.

Tough to blame the seller there, no?

That's just how it works now and you can't really blame the sellers for that.

I don't think that's what the OP is talking about. It's perfectly acceptable for someone not to respond to a WSO question for several hours or even for up 24 - 48 hours during the weekends. But what I think he's talking about is when someone drops in and places a WSO and then simply NEVER seems to return...EVER.

I've had this happen to me several times and the WSO seller lost out on sales specifically because they simply NEVER responded to any questions. Sometimes, even sending a PM is a total waste of time so I usually don't bother, if they can't answer on their own WSO thread, then they simply miss out as far as I'm concerned.

I recently asked a question on a WSO about a week or so ago and have still NOT heard back from the seller. I don't waste a lot of time posting to WSOs, but when I do it's because I'm interested in the product. However, if I NEVER get a response from anyone I'm not going to buy. I don't feel like I should have to track down the seller. If they can post a WSO, they should be able to actually follow it and answer any pre-sales question we might have.

Another annoying thing I have found with WSOs is that some sellers offer Awesome Support right there on the WSO thread and encourage testimonials, etc. But once they have your money the support seems to simply disappear. I've had this problem on a number of occasions where the support was very good here at the WF WSO area, but after I actually sent money and got the product, the support was simply not there.

I've even tried to contact some of them on their own forums and/or support desk only to be ignored.

I know that in some cases people just get so busy, they have a hard time keeping up with support for their products. But when you see them giving support on yet another WSO when they aren't providing it on their own back end, it gets really annoying (unless of course they specifically mention there is no support with said purchase). But there's a number of WSO sellers around here that offer stellar support here and then fail to do so after they get your money. I guess it's all just part of the game, but it sure can be annoying.

Thanks for the information about the time lag which may occur between a wso posting and it then going live. I am a teacher and unable to check my mail during much of the day. This will help me know when to post and be certain to be around to receive communications.

Im amazed more people havent caught onto this as these fake reviews arent that hard to spot if you do a bit of research.

In some cases the WSO seller will create multiple accounts and use different IP addresses to post several positive reviews of his own WSO.

Theres huge money being made right now from people doing this!

I generally stick to providing a service I know that ther is always a demand for and then providing excellent customer service. And my WSO's always for the most part go live within an hour or two. I've found fellow warriors are generally understanding of the timezone issues. And I enjoy what I do so I've yet to have someone say its bad, which I always like. And I've got a lot of repeat customers (some quite massive warriors on here).

That's the key, like we say here. Find a need, fill it, make sure its worth the money and provide fast, excellent service.
