I was wondering two things:

When building a review site, do normal people assume that the average "(nichetopic)reviews.com" is a company who represents many people researching and testing these products. Or are they aware that its run by just some "guy". As I was filling out my about us page, I was thinking in regards to by implying I am an individual enthusiast, rather than many experts would be bad?

Also I am wondering if google penalizes sites for duplicate pages from the same owner? What I mean is, the more articles I write the more the site will shift from a macro to an authority site. While that is fine, I was planning on eventually making a big authority site and will be wanting to use these articles on that site. Would that be a problem in the future?

ie site is barbequereviews.com.........i write some articles about low fat foods that can be made via a bbq........later I start an authority site called....HealthyFoods.com and want to add the articles from the bbq site.

    1) As long as you are CLEAR as to WHAT makes you an expert on the particular niche of products you are reviewing, you should be able to establish some form of CREDIBILITY. Of course, a key part of this is making it obvious that you don't have a conflict of interest. This means no obvious affiliate links and ALL reviews must be realistic.

    2) Duplicate content issue. Can you clarify? You are going to be recycling articles you write for one site for another site?

Issue #1- Be honest about who you are. You're not a large multi-employee company so don't try to fool consumers into believing your are. If you think being a solo business is bad, just don't talk about that aspect of your enterprise.

Issue #2 - It's fine to transfer your BBQ articles from one of your sites to another. You own them both - your are the author - you can do what you want. Where duplicate content hurts is when it is on the same site.

      Good luck to you.
