Looking for suggestions/tips

Hey guys, looking for some tips from those that have been down a similar path.

I am looking to hire and build a sales team that will be run by a Manager that I assign.

That manager will handle the sales end of the business and hiring rep's that will sell our product (SaaS) which relies on recurring payments per month. We have low overhead, so we are able to pay very nice commissions.

Sample numbers:

- $100, price of our software per month.
- 90% margins/profit.

With this scenario, what would be the best way to structure the first 50 - 100 sales people? We are thinking about paying them on-going commissions for 12 months, with first month "signing bonus" of $90 for first sale. We imagine that the sales will be simple, and each rep should be able to do 2 - 4 a day.

We want the rep's to make money, as that will potentially bring in more great rep's.

Look forward to reading your feedback.

making sure your product or service is easy to sell and worthwhile to the buyers will be the most important factor it sounds like to me. The Commission being high is great but only if you can sell it. And of course getting the first few sales people well established and really making money will make it easy to convince other people who will also get involved in helping you sell.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Thanks for your reply! I completely agree, my background is in Software but not in this scale. This is the first time I've developed a product that can be sold in multiple countries (english speaking for now; Australia, US, Canada, UK, etc.) - we have a great team of developers who have made a very easy product that sells itself - we just need the proper "intro" with the businesses we target.

I have never dealt with anything of this scale, and we are looking to scale this quickly and efficiently. My lack of experience comes in when we hit many sales people in many different cities.

You may want to recruit your affiliates/sales people outside the internet marketing pool which is available online. You are looking for people with sales experience who understand your niche or industry. For instance, you could have better results placing advertisements in offline business related magazines asking for sales people (with online internet marketing experience) to apply online at your affiliate sales page. This will attract a vast array of talent that you might not find by generally recruiting random affiliates online, who might or might not have proper experience.
