Any Joomla Experts? Mass Content Upload!

I have been around for quite a while and over the course of time I have built up quite a bit of content. However, I am not using Joomla and I am in need of a way to upload massive amounts of content to a Joomla site. I met one person who said this could be done with a CSV file but while they sent me the file, they were unable to send me any real instructions and I was unable to call them as I do not have a telephone.

Does anyone have any ideas about some way that I can upload a couple of thousand pages of content without having to do it a single page at a time? The content is all mine but one page at a time is definitely cutting into my viable time for working, growing and expanding.

The software can't handle this in a way where you will be happy with the output. My recommendation is to hire a programmer - I use a team from India for big Joomla projects. What they will do is build your pages in a sub-folder so you can inspect them before they go live - all at one time.

With this many pages however, I think this could on the pricey side of $1,000. Might be worth a quote though and if you are interested PM me and I will send you their email.

Thanks Marty! However, if I had a thousand dollars to spend I would be buying some software I desperately need to automate some other tasks and go to GAF to find somebody to do it for less than fifty cents a page. I can get articles written for that price from many people around the world if I ever bought any, (I am a writer, so unfortunately, I have to compete with those rates at present) I can see no reason to pay someone that much money just to upload a page I have already written.

Actually, what I was hoping was that I may encounter someone who could help me figure out this csv file I have and how to use it ... I offered to publicize it for the guy who wrote it but unfortunately, long distance calls for me are out of the question without a phone. I am afraid an International call on a public payphone in the Philippines would not be a viable option either.

I certainly would have if I could have found it but general searches on Joomla.org returned far too many results and I do not think I ever tried the word "bulk" in with my searches ... but I certainly will be looking at it tonight!

Whether I can get it to work or not will be the question now but even if I can do ten pages at once, it beats doing them one at a time ... especially with my connections and computer limitations at present.

It does look to have some bugs but given my situation and the traffic I am losing it is definitely worth a shot. If I was superstitious I would note that it came out on my birthday but unfortunately, I daresay that does not really mean anything one way or the other ... I will let you know! About three hours past my bedtime now but I have downloaded it and will be installing it tonight.
