U gotta check this out:

Wolfram|Alpha

Enter anything like your towns name for example, or any number equation, childs first name etc

and this thing will compute all the relevant data for you. WAY BETTER THEN WIKIPEDIA!

    It's also way slower than wikipedia and tends to get regular requests way wrong and hit you up with stock information and stuff -.-

      Why do people have to be sooooo negative.

      I mean here is a machine that can compute your tax, tell you relevant info on any town on the planet, give you the binary code for the number 200112343, and even tell you when the next rise of the constellation Orion will take place.

        And reality SUCKS...

        I did a search for my hometown RIO DE JANEIRO and the results are a Zillion times better for Wikipedia. Pretty much the contrary you said

    It's been hyped as a replacement for Google - but nowhere on the site does it claim to be that - it is a "computational knowledge engine" - you don't search - you "compute". Again, there are lots of examples on the site.

      There is a new(?) under the sun. It will be clear in the parctice how much facilitates our everyday life. But I don't think that Google need to be frightened of this.

    I don't really like it. The reason is it gives you THEIR idea of what THE relevant info is on a topic. I personally prefer being able to choose from many different inputs and viewpoints. One viewpoint only is far too Big Brotherish for me.

    It is an interesting site. I didn't find it slow at all, seemed to speed right along for me. I don't think its something I would use regularly, but not a bad tool.
